would mean that you think that in about 2 years time....the PS3 will not have made an impact in the least bit.

Not once did I say that the 360 would fail, only that the PS3 would have by then made a huge footprint in the gaming industry (hell, during and soon after the massive 2008 lineup Sony has, that fact will be more than apparent whether you're for or against them)...but hey.

Early launch = greater install base = more dev support
Early launch = more dev practice = more dev support
More dev support = more games
more games = more money (and supposedly a happier end consumer)
it was a smart business move simple as that.
We all know that if it dropped the same day as the PS3, the 360 would be well on its way to extinction.
EVEN at the inflated price of the PS3 and the intricate architecture....
not here in the US
