The grey colour scheme seems a little overbearing, but you made the stamina and resource conservation elements sound interesting. I'd like to see more games that try to stand out like this.
It's surprising how far friendly AI hasn't come in the last few years. Even brand new releases still have your allies wandering into your line of fire, so it's certainly not a problem unique to SAS or its age.
I like the idea of field modification. It'd be nice to see more of that, and it's good that you drew attention to one of the few selling points of an otherwise forgettable game.
I'm particularly fond of fanboy ravings that disregard facts.
One that I've heard a few times is about how the Tomb Raider series was ruined by not being exclusive to the Playstation, and how it should have stayed there on its original platform.
This argument completely overlooks the fact that its original platform was actually the Sega Saturn.
You know, I almost sold myself on this stance while writing...
I agree with the author about the music, but EvilQuest is an enjoyable game overall. It's certainly worth spending the princely sum of 80 MSP on. Action RPGs are a strangely under-represented genre on Xbox Live Indie Games.
'Gamers' are irrelevant. Not a big enough market, for handheld purposes. The Wii has demonstrated very capably that non-gamers are a far bigger market, and that's the one the likes of Angry Birds cater to. I expect handhelds to vanish because they're not financially sustainable anymore. I hope I'm wrong, as I was about the death of Nintendo.
I approve of the inverted commas around 'gamer' there. Personally I don't like the term, but sometimes I use it for convenience. I don't think there's such a thing as 'a gamer', just people who sometimes play games.
"this guy is a asshole and not a gamer so he should not talk about gamer stuff!"
'Asshole' is possible and has been argued many times, but I've been gaming regularly since 1986 and at last count owned 18 consoles (including half a dozen handhelds), so I think I've got that covered.
I'm not saying smartphones are better gaming platforms than handheld consoles. Personally I much prefer playing games on proper handhelds (perhaps be...
Agreed. Setting aside the whole FortressCraft debate which I'm sure you're heartily sick of by now (I know I am), the rest of the accusation makes no sense.
Anyone who has played Terraria - you know, actually sat and PLAYED it rather than just reading a short blurb and looking at a picture - knows its similarity to Minecraft is limited. It's like saying Halo is a rip off of Contra. There are similarities but they're generic, not specific.
