With the Xbox One dead in Europe everywhere but the UK(and even there it is getting easily beat by the PS4) the US was the only hope for Microsoft this gen.

It should be obvious now just how much the RRoD fiasco inflated Microsoft's installed base numbers last gen with the Xbox 360. The Xbox One is looking like it is destined for first Xbox installed base numbers. Maybe slightly higher if Microsoft doesn't kill off the console early.

Sony has been the top selling console maker in the world for the past three years since the Wii fad died off and the PS3 took over the top spot in weekly/monthly worldwide sales.
Sony isn't having any renaissance - they simply continue to dominate.
Microsoft was giving a 60 dollar game away with the Xbox One along with massive retailer incentives before they were forced to officially drop the price down to $399.
Anyone expecting some miracle recovery next month for the Xbox One are just setting themselves up for disappointment.
Sony winning E3 this year shouldn't surprise any rational person. Sony has the largest first party lineup by far making exclusive Playstation games.

The PS3 has absolutely insane parallel floating point computation power of 230 GFLOPS.
The PS3's Cell chip absolutely crushes the latest Intel x86 64bit chips.
While the mediocre hardware in the Xbox One is outclassed by even mid-range PC hardware.
It isn't new. They are selling used Wii U's:

The PS4 doesn't need to 'justify' anything.
It is the fastest selling console in history.
There is no way it will happen.
The Xbox 360 was:
1. Rushed out the door a year early to pad out installed base numbers
2. Was 200 dollars cheaper than the PS3
3. Had the entire US media effectively in their pockets
4. And most importantly had the luxury of the RRoD fiasco massively inflating their installed base numbers
None of that is true with the PS4 and Xbox One.

Sony has sold 3.1 million PS4s in the first three months of 2014. While Microsoft has only shipped to retailers 1.1 million Xbox Ones.
I didn't realize it was already May 7th. The PS4 should have already hit 8 million and we most likely will see an announcement in the upcoming week making it official.
That means the PS4 is already over double the Xbox One's installed base right now.

Nintendo, like Sony, only reports actual SOLD to customer numbers. Both companies made the change back in 2006.
Only Microsoft plays the game of lying about SHIPPED to retailer numbers being actual sales.
