Oh my this is just sad. Maybe the guys comparing 24hz in movies to 24 fps in games should read a book or something instead of posting here.

24 fps is almost unplayable in most games. 24 fps is an "artistic expression"? xD
Boy I sure hope not... GT5 in 3D on a obutto, fanatec Gt3 combo and Killzone 3 3D with sharpshooter on a Panny VT20 are hands down the 2 most ridiculously immersive games I have ever played...and every person I've shown gamer or nongamer agree.
Who else was really let down when word got out the HUD couldn't be turned off? If this is true I'm really hoping they patch that. I quit buying GT after 3 because in my opinion they didn't seem to be improving all that much with each iteration. Don't get me wrong, GT5 looks to be phenomenal. Yet the new videos of supposed review builds the screen is a total cluster f#%K with all all that text and data on the screen. After playing the SimBin games for the 1st time recently...

Instead of spewing baseless comments here's proof showing the PS3 is building its install base nearly identically to the PS2. It's the 360 that is nearly 4 million units less in the same time frame as the PS3 is now. If the PS3 is selling at the same pace as the PS2, which has sold nearly 1...
Has anyone ever watched European touring car or ALMS? The drivers bump and grind all the time and it's a critical part of the racing strategy. If you go by what this article is saying, the slightest tap may render a race car undrivable. A slight bump is not going to cause the coolant to leak. I can't believe you guys are buying into this crap. GT needs damage modeling and proper crash/contact physics. I love this series but the fact I can smash into a car full speed mid-corner and come o...
As big a fan as I am of the series, innovation has been kind of stale since the first. I won't support the game again until they implement damage modeling and proper crash/contact physics. At this point in the game, I don't think anything less is really acceptable. Anyone else holding out for this reason?
Although I think Oblivion was a good game, it ruined it for me once I figured out how the leveling system worked. Enemies automatically accommodate your level to make them somewhat challenging, yet definitely capable of being defeated. I love the Japanese RPG'S where if you go to a new area and aren't of a high enough level, you get your ass beat. That creates a challenge and provides motivation to level up and explore new areas. I haven't heard much of WTS lately; hopefully it's finishe...
The only next gen players that became obsolete are HD-DVD. Maybe this uneducated journalist needs to look up the meaning of the word. All first gen blu-ray players will play blu-ray. That is what people bought them for, to watch movies. Big whoop if 2.0 is adding more features. I rarely even watch the special features, etc; maybe just the deleted scenes. I am just not that interested in investing more time in a movie with boring special features. I would rather pop in another actual mov...
Thats your counterattack to Sony's victory in the format war??? HaHa!!! Thanks for the laugh man! It speaks volumes about the state of the industry and how quickly momentum is shifting when you have to dig so deep to find anything remotely negative to say about the PS3 right now.
Blu-Ray is not a company doofus. You can't buy stock in Blu-Ray. So you own stock in every company that comprises the Blu-Ray consortium?

As I far as I know, Kutaragi was removed in a manner that, in Japanese culture, would have brought him shame. Wasn't he the scapegoat for the delays and cost overruns? Well if blu-ray had not been incorporated in the PS3, things may be very different and blu-ray might not have prevailed. I think either HD-DVD would have won due to lower cost or neither would have. I think Sony owes alot to Kutaragi for being so adamant about including blu-ray in the PS3. It looks like the PS3 is becoming t...
So what happened to all the comments from a few months back that proclaimed MS was so great for offering the consumer a "choice" in HD disc capability? So now the new "choice" is an external/portable HDD as we all know HDD isn't standard. To bad they also gave consumers a "choice" to connect wirelessly as most people connect there game systems this way as running cables through the house isn't realistic. So the PS3 has the HD disc winning format built in, is ...
Wow, you guys are really scraping the bucket for negative ps3 comments aren't ya. The lack of rumble wasn't included due to a dispute with immersion. Now thats settled and you bring up the lack of standard inclusion before its even available in the U.S.? Then you somehow find the ignorance to claim that having the option of connecting wirelessly out of the box is not beneficial. Pathetic... How has the PS3 managed to outsell the 360 worldwide over six weeks in a row and the biggest games...
I attached a test pattern just to help us PS3 guys out. I have a 42" Ph9uk Panasonic plasma which I run HDMI to my PS3. If I set my PS3 to RGB full and adjust my brightness to barely show 4% above video black, it completely crushes all the whites. If I set it to limited under the same scenario, the whites are progressively whiter to the whitest white. Damn, thats alot of whites in one sentence. For my display, clearly limited is the best. Hope this test pattern helps you guys out. ...
Wow, you'd think by the way this guy is talking, MS has actually been successful in making video game consoles. After two years MS has managed to sell a little over 10 million units...The PS1 and PS2 sold over 100 million each. So far I haven't been impressed, AT ALL, with what MS has been able to achieve. Does he think shareholders will continue to blindly stand by why MS piddles away billions of dollars for what? Preventing Sony's dominance in being the center of home entertainment? They pu...
@ above:
What does the soap opera effect have to do with gaming? Oh uh...absolutely nothing! That is caused from motion smoothing of 24hz content (film) to cable broadcast (30 or 60hz). Well you should get yourself a cheap PC, cap your framerate at 24 fps and see if the feels "cinematic". Its not apples to apples chief.
