But the cell cpu is created through the cooperation of Sony,Toshiba, and IBM. IBM wouldn't be so happy if PS3 units are taking away their supercomputer market share. They both probably made some consensus that other-os feature would be removed sometimes down the road.
And the recently hacking activities gave Sony a very good excuse.

That's right. For hard core games, high precision controllers may be used to improve accuracy and gives better immersion. Guess what? those are sold separetely. Given MS notorious past, the controllers will be another rip off on gamers.
