Nintendo have always been very conservative when it comes to specs of their consoles. They just don't pull unrealistic numbers out of their ass like certain other companies.
The people who write those articles are just doing so to get clicks.
I think the vita was already killed on e3. Lackluster presentation, off screen showing of one game, that game being another uncharted... how many uncharteds? and then the delays.
