Whether it invented anything doesn't matter. It's a point of reference. Why I'm comparing Xenoblade to WoW and not, say, some other RPG with similar elements (which I actually do a couple of times with FFXII) is because WoW is an example that more people can understand and relate to if they've ever played it.

I'm not sure if you actually read and understood the whole thing as I wrote it, as there's nothing in this blog post saying that I prefer or even LIKE Call of Duty. That I think EA needs to grow up doesn't automatically mean that I think the opposition are wonderful, hombre, and I honestly shouldn't have to tell you that.
I'm not really interested in who started it (even though EA has been more than happy to take a shot at the competition for a while now)...
We might not agree but that's because your argument is flawed. It seems you completely missed the point where I said that the examples were meant to be POINTS OF REFERENCE. I don't NEED to draw comparisons to other RPGs if I can already adequately compare the gameplay to games like FFXII and WoW. The only reason why anyone would want me to NOT compare them in a grand total of FOUR places, would to me appear to be that they simply dislike WoW.
