Why is this news? Are people really that surprised? Weeks ago I predicted that Red Dead Redemption would outsell Alan Wake on the Xbox. It was just as obvious then than it is now. Microsoft fans really need to stop over-hyping their exclusives...cough cough...Halo: Reach.
The point of the article is that if you own a "near launch xbox 360" then you're not "future-proof". It will cost $100 to get it fixed if it goes RROD, which over 50% of them do or already have done. And don't forget this line from the article, "...we are getting controllers that are meant to extend the life of the current generation of consoles..." So the Microsoft faithful can look forward to plenty of "quality" time with Natal.
This game is way too much fun. IMHO RDR is a hell of a lot better than GTA4, and will most likely be the top selling game this month. In fact, I believe RDR will outsell Alan Wake on the 360 alone.
EDIT: I'm still trying to decide what's more fun: hunting animals or hunting bounties.
@Kratos Spartan Yeah, I read that part too. I thought to myself, "Damn! That's pretty brutal." RDR is going to be EPIC. Pre-ordered and waiting.
I think we're all in agreement here. Red Dead Redemption is going to be epic. I do believe that regardless of what console is owned, most of us on N4G will be busy exploring the Wild West come May 18th.
The more games the merrier, but it's not necessary. Playstation's library of games is impressive enough without DC3.
MS is doing a repeat of what they did at last year's E3. Using celebrities and circus acts to help over-hype mediocre products. And as far as Natal is concerned, the only people that seem even remotely excited about it are the die-hard xbox fans here on N4G.
I wish I was playing 3D DGH right now. Between this, Red Dead Redemption, and all the other games I've yet to finish off, May is already shaping up to be another busy month of quality gaming.
@clarkjudo: You're kidding right? First off, Red Dead Redemption is NOT a "run and gun" game, it's an open-world Western "sandbox" type game. If anything, Alan Wake IS a "run and gun", except now you have a flashlight. And second of all, I think we can all agree that Red Dead Redemption is going to be a bigger hit than Alan Wake. In fact I'll go so far as to say I think RDR will outsell AW on the 360.
OT: Alan Wake is going to be a g...
Just read the article. The graphics...the level of customization...the ability to create an entire game of your own. This level of gaming is only possible on the PS3!
Sony is the ONLY one coming into E3 with any kind of momentum. Playstations are selling. REAL Exclusives are coming. 3D Gaming is on the horizon. And the "Move" is impressing all that have had the chance to try it out. I fully expect Sony to dominate this year's show. Don't turn your back on Nintendo though. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up to E3 with a few "Aces" up their sleeves.
Oh look, another OFF-TOPIC OPINION from Bea. If you don't like the "flame war articles" why do you ALWAYS post comments in them? Honest question? Heck, instead of complaining like a kid, why don't you just go elsewhere for video game news? The point, Bea, is that you never actually contribute to the conversation at hand, your opinions are worthless, you complain incessantly, and you've rightfully earned your way to my IGNORE list.
PS3 all the way. I game on it, watch movies on it, go online with it. Even now as I type this, my PS3 is being used by Stanford University to examine the "folding" patterns of proteins via "Folding@Home". Yes, I can even help scientist find cures for diseases with my PS3. Philanthropy FTW!
@thebudgetgamer: "even the bad consoles have fun games"...agreed, and bubbles.
Nail on the head, Kaveti. Nail on the head.
OT: No multi-platform game to date can match GOW3's technical brilliance. And I highly doubt that will ever change. It's like fighting fire with fire. The only way to beat a PS3 exclusive is with another PS3 exclusive.
Co-op for Infamous 2 would be cool, but it's not necessary.
OT: The line that grabbed me from this article was: "The best part? E3 is less than two months away. Sony’s Megaton Press Conference is planned for June 15th, 11:30am at the Shine Auditorium. Could Sony turn the ‘lights on’ for inFamous 2? What else could they have up their sleeve?" I've noticed that some of the posters here on N4G seem to be under the impression that Sony has nothing planned for this years E3....
Oh they'll deny it. Some poor troll is going to log on to N4G, see the title of this article, skip the video itself and proceed straight to the comment section just to give us all their worthless opinions.
OT: I can't help feel that the dude in the video may have a bias towards the PS3, but that doesn't make his point less valid. PS3 has more HD games than the 360. That doesn't mean you can't have an ass-load of fun on a 360, but let's face facts here.
"Trolls roam around looking for ways to be polarizing. I comment, there's a difference but I wouldn't expect you to know anything about that because all you do is troll on what I say"...Do the words "Cognitive Dissonance" mean anything to you? Bea, there's nothing more "sad" than someone who can accept reality. BTW, you didn't actually answer any of my points from my last post, so that's yet another "FAIL" on your part.
EDIT: Seriously, wat...
1)"you seem to just follow me around"...No Bea, you troll in EVERY article on N4G, you're not that hard to find, so don't flatter yourself.
2)"you probably didn't read the article yourself"...You mean the article that I QUOTED FROM in my post. So you didn't even read the post your responding to? Interesting...
3)"I don't really play Live arcade games or PSN games"...then why are you commenting in this article?
4)You're still...
AFTER READING THE ARTICLE this quote stood out to me, "our action universe, and how we want that to play out and the types of stories we want to tell and the types of experiences that we want to share." I don't blame Bungie for being this ambitious. They been making Halo games for the Xbox for nearly a decade. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I imagine they've been itching to do something different. Bungie wants to show that they're not just some "one-trick pony&q...
IMHO GTA4 was really disappointing. Going on "dates" with your friends just to keep them happy was REALLY irritating. Fortunately, Red Dead Redemption is NOTHING like GTA4. The side quests alone, like hunting animals or going after wanted criminals, are a blast(especially if you turn off auto-aim). There's plenty to do. There's even a trophy for hogtying a woman, laying her on some train tracks, and watching her get run over by a train. The game itself feels like GTA:SA with...
