People tend to apply double standards in these cases. If it was Microsoft doing this, all hell would break loose with accusations left and right... since it's Sony, it's OK, they are advertising.
... and some people are right. It's advertising for Sony and it's perfectly fine... just like, for example, when Microsoft claims to have the most powerful console. It's advertising and perfectly fine for Microsoft, but some people get offended by that.

AAA timed exclusives matter a lot. Sony knows that, Microsoft forgot that. It's annoying to some gamers, but it helps sell consoles and gain market share.
Microsoft have money, but lack a competent person in front of their gaming division.
Race is between Sony and Nintendo.
Microsoft are making the wrong moves, again... after all this time they still fail to understand, AAA exclusives sell consoles. They need new blood in front of the gaming division, someone hungry, ruthless, that knows how the business works. Phil Spencer is not that person.
Competition would be good for everybody, unfortunately, Microsoft is no competition.
WB are selling their gaming studios. They aren't selling their IP's (Batman, Harry Potter, etc), and, that's the big problem...Developers without IP's aren't worth much.
Without IP's, might as well create a new studio, hire the developers from WD, and move on.
All the brainless zombie fanboys in this comment section really need to take a chill pill.
I gave the example of Avengers, but I was talking about games in general that have exclusive content on one platform (being that Xbox, PS5, PC, Nintendo). Gamers shouldn't be paying the same price for a game that has extra content on other platforms. You are paying the same price for something that's inferior. It should be illegal for companies to do that.

During the beginning of the PS3/X360 cycle, Sony had to cut the PS3 price twice in a year to catch up...
So yes, the price is extremely important for Sony (and Microsoft).
I don't mind exclusive content... but I always thought a game should be priced accordingly. If I was to purchase the game on PC/Xbox, why should I pay the same price as the PS5 version, when the PS5 version has more content?... this goes for all games with exclusive content.
If a game has extra content on one platform, then it needs to be a bit more expensive on that platform.
Yep... Platinum had their chance during 4 years and failed. They just want more Microsoft money to fund other games. It would be better for Microsoft if they gave the IP to someone else to make.

EDIT: @Rude-ro
AAA timed exclusives help sell consoles... simple timed exclusives don't sell consoles.
Sony still waiting for Microsoft to announce price...

So much noise for a game that looks like crap.

NO prices!... NO info on launch exclusives!... NO release date!...
Don't worry. Everything will be announced on the PS5/XseriesX release day (whenever that is).
Have a lovely day!

Did people read the article before commenting on N4G?
... most important question... did people actually understand what was in the article?
Nobody "believes" vgchartz numbers... but everybody use vgchartz numbers to "prove" their point. LOL.
If these listed games are the best of the year... then it has been a bad year for gaming.
Scam Citizen
"Housemarque Explains Why Nex Machina Is Only on PS4 & PC"
Housemarque has a console exclusive deal with Sony. Simple as that.
Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo all have these kind of deals with 3rd party.
It would be interesting if Scorpio run Destiny 2 at 4k/60fps.
@FallenAngel1984
... so why did Street Fighter V (also from Capcom) underperform?
Not bad. Above average month for PS+.
