I think they would lose more money by dropping the subscription for XBL then they would by cutting the price of the console...
It won't take long for them to be able to cut costs on the hardware manufacturing side, so dropping the price of the console at retail would only be a temporary loss in money...
Losing the money they charge for XBL is forever......unless they pull another 180 later on down the road...

The PS4 has been dominating them in sales...
love the franchise, but I really don't think they'll be able to top or even match the greatness that was GOW III...
I'm curious to see how the game looks and plays...

What helped to PS3 bounce back were it's great exclusives coming from their great 1st party studios and a few 3rd parties as well...
That's not something MS is capable of doing......they'll need to find another way
And they don't have the excuse of launching a year later like Sony did last gen...
