Maybe you're right at a certain point, but I definitely don't think advertise the Wii U for families and kids is the right choice. You people see no big diference because the next gen engine Ubisoft used is only compatible with the PS4/Xbox One, so Wii U is lacking the volumetric fog, rain effects, vegetation, etc, and honestly, it doesn't look that different. But it is clearly doable on the Wii U, here is the proof(video).
Also, Wii U is native 1080p.
