I would expect 1080p for PS3 and something close to Forza and more arcade like but not this wreckfest.

The first Original Ridge racers were amazing 3D master pieces from the arcade running on Incredible Hardware that revolutionized 3D gaming along with Sega's virtual racer franchise.
Sitting here playing Ridge Racer 7 at native 1080p on a Bravia LCD i can't help but think about the HD revolution that never occurred and why Namco never took this game to the next level and competed with GT5 or others? ...
I am sure as an exclusive devloper ,they have connections with Sony in-house and can leverage some of the technical resources and data to help with the complex rigorous orders of SPU and GPU design to help make a game that can outclass most Other console multi-platformers?
It's well known this is how Sony got so far with these brilliant next Gen titles of late.

First Off I HAD a budget PC(aka)Xbox360 and played RE5 on it (great looking stuff,However DVD limitations shows; horrendous low res cut-scenes,not much variety with visuals)
I now have it for PC on my ($50refurb)9800GT 512MB,it still lacks visual variety;yet It does look more phenomenal since 9800GT is twice the FILL power of a 360. MSAA is on +higher HD res on PC..
However We need to talk about Native Games not PC ports!which 360 comes up short ...
This is a first day buy for me!!
