Very expensive is debatable, when people pay thousands of dollars for a gaming PC and flagship cell phones are at minimum $1000 USD these days. I'd pay $1000 for a mobile PS5 that I could take anywhere, like the switch, but that played AAA+ content and didn't sacrifice quality. I know I can't be alone in this, when just to be in the hobby of playing games in 2024 you're all likely several thousands deep into this generation already.

Nintendo has stayed exclusive because its whole model is built around unique hardware and IP, but Playstation and Xbox operate in a broader ecosystem. Sony putting some of its games on PC or Xbox doesn’t hurt the brand, it grows it, and allows for more sales and more community engagement. It’s not “following failure,” it’s responding to how players want to experience games across devices and platforms.
