It's expected that there will be many patches at the beginning of the beta. Just remember that as time continues its inevitable march that the patches will become less frequent.
Just a theory, but they might want to get it out before BlizzCon so they have some good tourneys there

I think SC2 will bring in those who aren't normally RTS players; and through an amazing single player experience, show them the power that the RTS genre possesses to captivate.
Blizzard never does anything without a reason. Even if it's just to throw people off of the real trail. :)
Man, I love the new stuff, but really wish they would finish up the game. If they could pull people off of other games to finish World of WarCraft, they should do it for StarCraft 2 as well! A much better use of their time in my opinion.
I agree about the bummer with BN. But if it makes the experience that much better, I'm willing to wait. SC2 will be the first game on the new Battle.net, I can understand Blizzard wanting it to be perfect.
This is the best 3D game engine I have seen yet. I'm not knocking other engines, I just think this is the best of them. WarCraft 3's was alright, but StarCraft 2's puts it to shame.
The story mode is going to rock hard. I have a feeling it's going to blow every other game out of the water when it finally releases.
I don't play WoW at all, but am a big WarCraft fan. Hearing about the return of Deathwing, one of the most iconic characters in the WarCraft universe, gets me super excited to see how this all plays out.

If I was stranded and all alone on a desert Island, and had to choose between single player and multiplayer, I'd go with Single Player.
PC gaming has and will outlive the lifetime of any console. When was the last time you swapped out the graphics card on your console?
