With the VR2 update, it's a perfect time to re-visit NMS for me. I bought it back in August 2019 but decided to hold off due to the fans of the PS4Pro being kicked into overdrive.

Update: It's back now. I'm able to upload/download saves from the cloud and Returnal online works.
It's not the update that caused it. Prior to updating the PS5, I couldn't upload saves or play any online game.
