Amongst the code of 3.80 firmware for the PSP, there is a new piece of
code found which refers to a '3g' (3rd generation) PSP. So if this is
true and there is a new PSP on the horizon, what can you expect from
the next PSP which could come out THIS year or maybe next? Well now we
have seen the release of the PLAYSTATION Store on PC for the PSP, we
can expect a lot of games getting released there as well as UMD so
perhaps this will solve the problem of UMDs and the next PSP wont have
a UMD drive and will rely on the PS Store for games and movies.
If
true, its highly probable that both the new PSP and the 'Slim and Lite'
will be in production together so people with a huge selection of UMDs
can still buy a newer PSP and be able to play on them. The whole UMD
format has failed and rarely are film studios releasing movies on them.
The UMD drive is also heavy and takes up space and data on UMDs take
more time to load than from a Memory Stick. Also the increasing sizes
available for Memory Sticks and the drops in price mean that making
space for games on them is less of an issue. Furthermore, increased
broadband speeds means you can purchase and download a whole game in
just a few minutes.
You may have heard continuous rumors about a PSP Phone so maybe the
next model will be a phone. Also what would be welcomed would be a
camera and touch screen similar to the iPhone. A hard drive adds more weight and less reliable than flash memory so either it will have flash built-in (more than 32 or 64mb) or just the same as the 'Slim and Lite'. By this time the PSP may
have reached the $100 mark so Sony could be keen to push for a high
priced option.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

psp will have a umd drive, they can't just rely on the ps store because a lot of poeple doesn't accept this idea, they want a hard copy, or they don't have a fast connection to download games...
now a more plausible idea would be including an 8 gig harddrive, and selling games thru optical discs, that you will use to install the game, but that's too complicated for some poeple who just want to play, so i think that the umd is here to stay...
As i said, i don't see it as a replacement, it would sell along side for the customers who don't mind downloading games and are happy to sacrifice the UMD drive if it meant the PSP was lighter and slimmer.
There's no point in a hard drive. HDD are bulky, heavy and noisy. Flash memory can already surpass 8GB. We got 32GB Mem Sticks next year with 16GB coming march.
