Juuken and Darkpower owe Kotaku and N4G apology

Yesterday Darkpower via gamegazette posted an article attacking Kotaku's credibility because of something juuken had told him. For those not up to speed you can find it here.

In short, the article accused Kotaku of lying and plagiarism. This is not something that can be ignored. It was a serious targeted attack on Kotaku. One that questioned not just Kotaku but of the writer Mike Fahey.

Darkpower's story managed to reach 510° before the mods took the story down.

The story has been taken down, so what's the problem?

Simple. It's not fair to Kotaku or N4G readers unless you know why the story is gone and why an apology is in order?

Don't worry this won't take long.

Kotaku after being contacted by Sony posted this on the 27-3-09. Darkpower after communicating with juuken. Came to the conclusion that this post by smarthouse, was the original source. Posted two days later on the 29-3-09. Even though smarthouse is an Australian site the time difference still exceeds that of 24 hours.

It's hard to believe that after all that effort that neither Darkpower nor juuken saw this.

This alone, makes it clear Kotaku was the original source. There is however, something even more interesting.

In the original Kotaku article they reported that Sony was to make an announcement on Tuesday the 31st of March.

"We're leaning towards a price cut, but we've got a sneaking suspicion that it's the Playstation 2 dropping to $99, and not a cut for the Playstation 3"

As you can see they speculated the announcement was about price. That of the PS3 or PS2, they did not know.

Smarthouse on the other hand made it clear in their article, the announcement was about the Playstation 3.

"Sony Computer Entertainment is set to make a global announcement this week regarding the PS3 which has witnessed three months of declining sales with Tuesday, March 31 which is Wednesday in Australia set to be the big day"

I gave Darkpower the benefit of the doubt, I read his story, I read the comments; but he was wrong! as was juuken!

Darkpower, juuken are you man and women enough to admit you were wrong and to apologize to Kotaku and N4G?

For the conclusion Kotaku has posted Sony's big announcement.

Maybe because it's a mark of integrity to apologize or retract a false accusation when you don't have the evidence? Or when the evidence is contradictory to your claims?

But looking through the list of articles on the offending site, it seems like they're more into opinion pieces than reporting.

REPLOID246240d ago

on this one. besides, it's not like kotaku are saints either.

JOLLY16240d ago

you all still think juuken is a chick?

DelbertGrady6239d ago

Juuken/ultimolu is something that can't be categorized by gender...

GiantEnemyCrab6240d ago

That's what you get for listening to either one of them.

GamingGazette is nothing but a bullhorn for Darkpowers BS. It has zero credibility in gaming journalism so I'm sure nobody really cared that he called out Kotaku.

btw - I called the PS2 pricecut and stuck by it even before the announcement was made. Where is my cookie!!!!!!

JD_Shadow6238d ago

You are so wrong in your assumption: The name is GAMEGazette. :P

And we have SOME cred. Give us a break here.

ultimolu6239d ago

Lmao, okay...first of all I did not encourage darkpower to write that article. I said to him that kotaku may have been pulling a fast one on their site because it was April Fools Day on the first. He asked if he should write an article on this. I said if he wants to write it.

And for the people who are asking if I'm a chick, I am a female. I have no reason to lie about my gender.

Second of all, if there was any wrongdoing involved then I apologize.

JD_Shadow6238d ago

Well, they're jealous that a female knows more about gaming and being a GAMER than some of the guys that visit and comment on this site, so you may need to tell them you are a guy in order to keep them from having to swallow their pride. :D

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit2d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing2d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster922d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
