The Age Old Debate!

FPS vs. RPG: Part 68 out of 100

Now don’t go searching for parts 1-67 cuz you won’t find them. I just wrote that as part of my age old debate title. Ah the joys of a blog.

Alright so let’s jump right in the thick of it and let me tell you the first subject in this little quandary. The first subject is tools of the trade in which FPS can only go so far with this one. One handed gun, two handed gun, and in some cases you’ll get a blade/hammer/pipe to use, but for the most part you’d rather take the gun. In the RPG you can have a one handed sword, two handed sword, ax, blunt weapon, staves, clubs, katana, great katana, instruments, shields, and even armor, heck even in some RPG’s they have the one handed gun and two handed gun as well. Not only do RPG’s have all that but with every tool they have multiple different kinds all offering a plus or minus to your stats making countless combos and for the most part the games even have an ultimate weapon for every usable character.

With the FPS tools of trade they do have a variety of different one handed and two handed weapons that offer up pluses and minuses for the character of choice. Though they cannot change armor for the better or get shields and even though they have a few different one handed and two handed weapons the selection of items to use on RPG’s still out do anything found on FPS weapons. In FPS you can have multiple grenades while in RPG not only can you have grenades but you have items that do all of the spells found in game.

The next point would come from our realtor cousin that’s always shouting location, location, location! Here I can say RPG’s excel at in bringing the gamer to areas far away and close in memory. Where else can you go to the moon, under the earth’s crust, universities, hospitals, dream worlds, empires, valleys, deserts, mountain ranges, space ships, medieval times, current times, future times, forests, arenas and… well you get the picture and that can usually be found in one game. In RPG’s you have a whole world to explore and plenty of dungeons to explore. The FPS has a general theme for one game. You can go to all the places I’ve listed off on the RPG list the only difference is you’d need 20 games before you got to them all. FPS’s bring you to one place and you explore their set way and there hardly is a different local that you would find in the game.

Another point that I’ll use for this part of many comparisons is enemies. In FPS’s you have plenty of bad guys to kill but many of them are the same type of enemy. You can usually count on one hand how many species you have to kill in your average gun game only do the crazy cool FPS allow you to kill up to two hands of species. Now play your average RPG and you’ll find most have there own bestiary. With that said I don’t believe I need to elaborate any further on how RPG’s give gamers more enemies to kill then that of a FPS. Along with the fact that RPG’s usually have rare enemies to hunt down and kill for a nice little profit and bragging rights. The only rare enemies found in FPS’s are the bosses and you know… RPG’s have bosses as well, and once again more of.

Hmmm, maybe I was right in giving this a part x of x for I think I’ve taken enough time from you for now. (and trust me I still have more to compare as I’m sure you do too) So I’ll leave you to talk of these differences and while I compose another break down on how I obviously feel RPG’s are the victor in the battle between these two genres. Thanks for reading!

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit20d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
