What Damnation should have been.

Myst|6174d ago |Blog Post|0|

As I look back upon the first blog posting that I've made, I have since then gone back to take a gander at Damnation's multiplayer or rather "versus" option with the thoughts of "What would this have been like if.." plaguing my mind. From the very first time that I began to step foot into the campaign mode of Damnation, it felt as if the game was built on co-operation rather than singular player. It wasn't until I touched the multiplayer part of the game that I truly began to see that this game would have worked out much better as a multiplayer game, with a few larger maps (that should hold at least 20 or 26 characters max) With the current 8 characters being the smallest.

If you are one reading this who is unfamiliar with Damnation's play style then I will please ask the reader to direct their attention to the gametrailers link that I have provided below. It shows how Damnation's multiplayer is and what I feel the game as a whole should have been, instead of as a side option. In advance I must apologize for the annoying commentator who speaks throughout the clip length, a forewarning is very much needed and I would advise those who plan to watch to at least turn the sound on low or off and simply enjoy the action.

I hope I am not alone in thinking that it would have been a good idea to make damnation a dominant multiplayer game instead of one with a campaign tacked on. Due to the nature of the game play and combining it with my 'what if' question it  does makes me wonder how the sales would have been if it had just been multiplayer (similar to warhawk on the Playstation 3). As it is certainly different from the First person shooters (not just become it's a third person shooter), but because of the way you can move about; shoot while still holding onto ledges or ladders and so forth

So due to the nature of this game I find that it would have been better to just have made it into a multiplayer dominant game, rather than the campaign styled one. At least more people probably would have bought it on the play style alone.
