10 Ways to Make Rockband 3 Rock Your Socks Off.

Everyone knows that Rockband is awesome. It is ridiculously addicting and the game grows and grows every week with new DLC. Now, no announcements have been made about a Rockband 3 but I have decided to make a wish list of features that need to be in the next game.


1. iTunes Integration

Now I know that this is a long shot, but how cool would it be if you could have a song automatically downloaded to your iTunes when you purchased it on the Rockband Store? I mean, you bought the song. Why can't you just listen to it instead of playing it? Plus, it could be part of the Tour. You get your first album, your first video, make it big enough to get your album on iTunes. That just sounds cool.

2. Added Character Customization

I played the first Rockband and uploaded it to my Rockband 2. One thing I noticed is that the Rock Shop did not changed much at all. Usually, when you make the next generation of a game, you update things like that. There needs to be three times the clothes, hairstyles, and tattoos. And for God's sake, you should be able to give your character tattoos on his/her back. You know how weird it looks to have tattoos all over your torso except for your back? Very.

3. Better Instrument Customization

One of the three things Guitar Hero: World Tour had going for it was the instrument customization. It was far more in depth than Rockband's. The only things I didn't like about it is that you had to unlock things to customize your instruments further like different drum sticks or a double bass drum. That is stupid. The music shop aspect of Rockband is perfect. You should be able to customize the instruments like Guitar Hero but earn money to buy better instruments, not unlock them.

4. Actual Set-up For Singing/Playing Guitar

I'm not the greatest guitarist playing the game, but I got a mic stand to play guitar and sing at the same time. I discovered something...it's really hard to do, especially if you don't know the songs lyrics. What should happen is sing and play rhythm guitar, not lead. There are tons of bands that do this and it wouldn't be that hard to do in a game. Now the only time you should be allowed to play rhythm is if you choose to sing too. Also, it would be awesome if you could have three guitars going while you are doing this (rhythm, lead, and bass). This leads me to my next point.

5. Use Same Character for Singing/Playing Guitar

This one is pretty straightforward. Currently if you want to do both, you need two seperate characters. Just make it to where you use the same character. There would still be four characters on screen though (singer/rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, and drums).

6. Upload Your Own Pictures For Band Logos/Posters

The band logos you can make now are pretty cool but how awesome would it be if you could upload your favorite pic and make it your band's logo? You would see a lot of crazy stuff. Honestly how hard could it be to implement?

7. Mandatory Installs

Now I own a Playstation 3 so I am no stranger to the mandatory installs. I am not talking about a 5 gig install to make the game run smoother. I mean have a compressed file on the disc for the songs you play and install them on the hard drive (not unlike uploading Rockband 1 songs to Rockband 2). This way there is more space on the disc for all of the additional features previously mentioned. Quick low blow...Blu-ray discs wouldn't have to worry about space but I'm just saying for the Xbox players.

8. Updated Drums

There isn't much that would make the drums better. However, the kick pedal needs to be more effortless. Right now it feels springy. It would be hella easier to play harder difficulties with a better foot pedal. Another thing is replaceable drums heads. I don't know about you guys, but my girlfriend rocks the hell out of those drums. So the rubber is warping on the drums. If there were replaceable heads, I could just put new ones on and not have to worry about anymore. The only problem is making them cheap enough to buy instead of a new drum kit.

9. No More Country Music

I'm sorry but country music...on Rock band? Am I the only one who sees a problem with this? I download new songs almost every week and when I see a plethora of country music it makes me want to throw up. Last time i checked, the game was called Rockband, not Worst Genre of Music Ever Band.

10. New Downloadable Content Polls

Rockband.com has a "suggest a song" section in your profile, but how many people have suggested songs or even a band that never gets put in the game. Now I understand the whole licensing issue with the music on Rockband. However, we should be given some choices on what they are persuing. I think a poll every week with ten or so songs that people can vote on before they put them into the game. Song gets no votes, song doesn't go in the game.
