SFV and I

Hello fellow gamers, welcome to my very first blog entry on this site. Before you start reading my experiences with the game, please know that english its not my first language so I apologize in advance for any error. (feel free to make any type of correction or suggestion in the comments, it will be appreciated)

Disclaimer #1 I'm a huge fan of the Street Fighter series and Capcom (despite their many flaws). I been playing almost all the games they realesed since the early '90. My favorites are Resident Evil 4 and Project Justice (please revive this saga).

So when I heard that a new game was going to be released this year (finally) I started following all the news and info about it. I was trying to act like an informed gamer and not only as a fanboy. And i really like the way they handled all the details of the game this time around, they were very upfront about it. So i decided to preorder this game (first time doing a preorder by the way, damn it Chun Li battle costume) knowing its going to be an "incomplete" game for a long time.

The grab point for me, the reason I decided to support this project, was the platform concept. There wont be a SF5 Arcade Edition, Ultra Edition or Super, there will only one game with planned updates for the years to come (probably a GOTY edition will appear later on). And apparently all the updates are going to be free (I still dont trust Capcom enough, better wait and see). For that reason I decided to purchase this game digital (also a new field for me).

So the day finally come... and I wasnt able to play the game :(
Server issues and missing parts... I was pretty dissapointed. I only got the chance to try the practice mode but that was enough to fall in love with the game. The mechanics in this game are perfect, depth but friendly and the visuals really enhance their impact. Also they finally change some characters moves and expanded their reach and playability. Its a truly overhaul to the classic formula of SF since SFII without selling the soul of the series. (Capcom knows his stuff) Ryu is still Ryu but it feel fresh (Zangief finally have an aerial throw YEAH!!). And the newcomers add somethings new to the saga. I'm trying to main Rashid for the moment.

Disclaimer #2 and #3: I'm a bit sucker for the arcade mode and I don't play fighting games online (till now).

The Story mode is surely a let down and it puzzle me why they choose it to do it this way... only a few rounds with a couple of screenshots... probably product of rushing the game for the Pro Tour. Or maybe they are trying to pull something like GG Xrd with a prologue Arcade Mode (more robust by the way) and a Cinematic Story Mode (3 hour movie with a killer cliffhanger, need Revelator right now). Anyhow the real Story mode is coming in June so no problem right there.

Right now I'm training and getting all the colors, titles and fight money that I can. And having a blast while doing it.

Finally the online component is still pretty broken, and without any experience I usually only enter to get my ass kicked, but at least this time around I understand the differences between my and my opponent, my mistakes and I'm able to put a decent fight. The local VS is as good as ever but more balanced.

In short I'm glad with my purchase and I recommend the game to any SF fan or any gamer with a bit of patience while the updates drop.

Capcom can yet again break a new frontier in videogames if they do this right. And hopefully they will. Thanks for reading :)

Good read! I think streetfighter V is great already. I dont care for arcade mode, i think the one round survival mode is good enough. I just want to train for on line matches. That is what street fighter V is all about.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon (PS5) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Thomas Froehlicher: "The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is a very satisfying follow-up to a partially disappointing Trails Through Daybreak II. It has a much stronger narrative, dramatically improved combat, boasts great returning characters, delightful enhancements, and even more enjoyable side content in the form of Grim Garten. It’s worth every euro I paid - indeed, I'd pay twice the price for it, given the fantastic experience it provided. Given the dramatic cliffhanger at the end, I’m rather surprised to see that Falcom is going to spend two years remaking Trails in the Sky; I wager that many fans, me included, will be eager to see Van’s final episode."
