I remember the day like it was yesterday, the first time I had even been introduced to the realm of gaming, that cold winter morning changed my life forever. I woke up to my first ever game system, the Sega Genesis. Not only that, but inside it I found Sonic the Hedgehog.
Being that i was 7 years old, tasks such as handling a game system were still some what difficult. Truth be told I was not good at it at the start, I didn't understand it and I had a lot of trouble keeping up with the game. The first few levels were at first a challenge because I would just try to speed through them, hitting almost every obstacle. The first time I defeated Egg man at the end of the Green Hill Zone. I was filled with joy, and I was proud of what I had done. I let out a little sigh of relief the game was not over, I still had a lot more to do.
My next few days with that game were frustrating ones, the second world “Marble Zone” had challenged me beyond what I was capable of, and it took me forever to get enough skill to pass it. Every time I had made it farther I got more and more excited, I was about to beat it. Little did I know, Sonic was growing on me, and it was becoming an addiction.
Every level felt like a right of passage, and I was slowing unlocking the gaming potential in me. As i progressed the game, I would always feel accomplished if I could get just a bit farther each time, and every time I had lost all my lives, I would try again, working at getting farther and farther each time.
I loved that game, so much I played it day to night every day of the week. In school all I could think about was how I was going to beat the next world. I practically memorized the first 10 or so levels, and with each play through I got farther and farther into the game. I don't remember the exact day I beat the game, but eventually i did,"Unlocking” up-down-left-right up-down-left-right.
I look back to this day and think, how did such a simple game keep my entertained for so many hours, day in and day out for almost a year? Perhaps it was because I was seven years old, and I didn't have the mentality I have now, where I expect a game to be exceptional, or perhaps its because it was, and still is an amazing game.
No game to this day has had such a huge impact on my life; Sonic turned me into the gamer I am today, and because of that, this game will always have a special place in my heart.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Omg, this was probably my first game as well...I spent YEARS playing this game. Couldn't ever complete it because I was like 5 but got to the sand boss, but now it's on PSN :)

Ok, so i was playing MGS4 and I was on the menu screen where snake is in the graveyard. I waited for a few minutes listening to the awesome menu song. Then, suddenly, when the menu movie had finished, it displayed the Konami logo and Kojima productions logo, like when you boot up the game.
Now this is the weird bit.
After the logos it started playing a movie, seemingly completely unrelated to MGS. It was all in black and white (I think) and it was 2 people, a man and a woman, in mid-air, slow motion, just about to karate kick each other. In the background there were helicopter destroying buildings and these weird crab things. Then the fighters come together, one of them grabs the other and points a gun at her head, then the woman gets out a grenade.
After that it shows a logo but the text is written backwards. Then another logo with the same thing. I didn't have enough time to read the text.
Any of you guys seen this???
I don't remember the first game I played but it must have been on my dad's Sega Master System. Wonder boy in monsterland, soem otorcycle racing game, and some mobster lightgun shooting game. We alos played Rambo and a baseball and football game on that system. Then I remember playing a bunch of SNES games with my neighbor when we got them when we were little kids. I remember playing a Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Killer Instinct, Aladdin, and others. I still remember the cheat code to get to the last level in Aladdin. Genie, Jafar, Aladdin, Abu. Ahh, nostalgia.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a great game, I even had the full game on my older mobile phone. I got it for my Sega Megadrive, with Sonic 2 also.
The first game I ever played at home was on a friends Sinclair ZX81 computer, It was either 3D monster maze or a Space invaders game. (In the early 80's, I'm 38 now).
The first computer I had was a Commodore 64. I had around 60 games on tapes for that, my favourite was "Green Beret". It was my Commodore 64 which got me into gaming really. All my friends had Sinclair Spectrum 48k computers which I also played a lot with. The game's I remember most for the Spectrum was "Daley Thompson's Decathlon", and "Jet Set Willy". Another game we played for many,many hours was "Football Manager".
The first game that I know of playing was Pitfall I believe, on some old home movies my grandpa is trying to show me how to play when I was like 2 or 3. I most likely had tried to play other games as I know my mother had an NES with Mario and Zelda but I have no memory of it.
