I have my opinions on kids and games, I think it depends on how easily the child is influenced by seeing such material (violence, language, but nothing of sexual nature- I think that's off limits).

Assuming the kid is mature enough to see such things in a video game's subject matter , you'd expect them to act within a reasonably mature manner when talking to others over PSN or XBL.
I've come across kids from both sides of the argument, and it does seem o be tipped in the favor of "snooty, spoiled little brats". But I have come across some who aren't complete idiots as soon as they touch the online components of an M/18+ rated game.

It's definitely more evident in CoD games, but kids are naturally attracted to kill, kill and more killing set games, rather than something like Command and Conquer, or hell, even more thinking-based shooters, like Battlefield, Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six.

I know it's a bit of a cliche, but I think it's down to the given child's upbringing and whether their parents have raised them to be decent adults. Kids who would be influenced by, say, an M rated movie, should not be allowed to play M rated games, but if their is an opposite (or, no effect, rather), than I don't see the issue.

They are almost no diff than the teens and adults that are on xbl. They learn it from teens and adults then more of them start acting like this. The difference between teens and adults is that kids are younger, and don't know when its time not to talk like that.

Tons of kids on xbox live running there mouth, i reckon microsoft should add an option to the file complaint list saying that its a kid and their too young to be playing this game, then microsoft should ban the account and inform the parents of this child, that will scar him good, beatings for a lifetime lol

What's funny is that you say kids under the age of 14 shouldn't play M Rated games, but the kid in the picture is Dutch. In Holland (or the Netherlands), the legal drinking age for alcohol is 16, and 18 for marijuana. I think M Rated games are the last thing you should be worried about.

I personally feel that if the game states 18+ then that's what it means. With no exceptions at all. This is the standard for all cinema releases. It is the same for all magazines, and websites. A juvenile can not just walk into a store and by a adult magazine can he? No, and there is a reason for this. Remember, the magazine may not have pornographic pictures. Just adult content, such as dirty jokes or stories for example. So lets say his mom goes in and buys it for him. Would this be good parenting? Not only is it horrible parenting, it is unlawful.

That's because there is no exception in the law, pertaining to the other forms of media entertainment. With the ESRB and online gaming, there are exceptions. The gaming industry is behind in regulations and penalties.

Now think about this, A parent can consent to letting their minor child have access to what has been rated for Mature audiences. So clearly the laws need to be in place to prevent a parent from giving consent to their child to be subjected to the graphic violence, adult content, and mature nature of the game. I personally feel that if a social worker entered a home and found a minor child playing a 18+ game they should be able to question the parenting of that family.

People seem to be a little more relaxed on this because its a game. They seem to think that because it is a game that it not a real threat to a minors mental welfare. A game is a form of media entertainment. The same as movies, and online sites. It is against the law for a minor to access an adult only movie or website so why not games?

Actually games allow a lot more real and very serious threats to their child in the form of live voice communication with adults. Their should never, absolutely never be an option for a parent to consent on a game that allows a 9 year old boy or girl to communicate live with (random) grown adults over the internet.

I have played violent games since young. Of course I get angry sometimes, and I think all of you do sometimes but not as much as the high-pitched boys on XBL and PSN who are playing 16+ or 18+ games...

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
