My Indispensable Dependency

Have you ever played something called a video game? its a new form of digital entertainment, apparently its kicking up quite a storm and developing quite a following on twitter. I was inadvertently bitten by the gaming bug early on in childhood, during what i like to call the good old days. Back when i used to play pong, pitfall and tetris while everyone else had a NES (nintendo entertainment system) i played games occasionally, but only in places like wedding venues or pubs on those huge cabinet arcade machines. It was a time when i still retained my innocence and you could do anything you wanted and nobody would seem to care because you were a child after all, when i still believed in santa and the world was all smiles and rainbows.

My dad didn't see the logic in spending a lot of money on a useless games console... and i agreed, the only use they have is to increase the amount of procrastinating a person can do to its maximum levels, while simultaneously increasing the amount of fat content in your body, interlaced with a decrease in social relation abilities. As it happened, my dad was actually a keen "car booter" almost every sunday he would wake up at around 5am to drive to a cold, wet, muddy, horrible field next to some farm which had just recently carpeted the green green grass with manure, sometimes i would be unfortunate enough to be awake and thus be dragged along too. Often we would bring home seemingly useless items to clutter up the living room and garage. Soon enough one day, one glorious day he had the good fortune to grab a bargin sega master system. After that day gaming stopped being a novel little hobby and became a passion destined to be cemented into my soul and being for all eternity.

Despite how much i love gaming, the game industry, writing about games, watching videos about games etc etc etc, i consider it to be more of a curse than blessing, after all games to have a tendency to burn though any funds you have quicker than prunes go though patrick moore. I dont regret any of my decisions however, games have certainly provided a hell of a lot of good times on those otherwise boring weekday evenings, its true i could have well... gone out and actually met other people, maybe i would have learned to speak english properly if i did... but i never would have saved world over and over again from aliens, killer robots, viruses and other digital demons. Who needs real people anyway when i have all the virtual friends ill ever need right on my television. (does this sound pathetic?) As i got older and started to earn my own money, i obviously bought even more games and committed even more time to them.

i find it hard to believe ill ever stop playing them. They're just to damn fun.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
