Crysis 2 Camping Innovation

HK6|5584d ago |Blog Post|14|

Short little blog here about an outstanding innovation I noticed in Crysis 2 which very strongly prohibits camping. So I am sure you are all very well aware that you can camp in any CoD game to get your kill streak just to get more kills. Crysis 2 has all but removed camping not only by faster gameplay and well made maps but also a very interesting underlying mechanic you may not have noticed. When you kill a player, they drop "dog tags" which you must collect in order to get your kill streaks. Only you can see the "dog tags" of enemies you killed and only you can collect them. This all but removes camping from this game unless you are not concerned in the slightest with getting kill streaks. I think this is a fantastic innovation in the FPS genre and I hope it makes it's way into the Camp of Duty series.

a very good point. It certainly makes camping harder.

This just makes me even more interested in this. Now I'm leaning towards this over Homefront. I need a fast-paced game that doesn't involve camping and all sorts of other cheap ways to kill the game for people. Right now, Uncharted 2 is my go-to multiplayer game, though occasionally, Bad Company 2 finds its way into my loading slot.

I love how snipers don't get killstreaks without some serious risk. Having invisibility in an FPS all the time sounds like a tragic mistake but it works well. Even on Xbox home of the CoD campers camping isn't a problem. The game really seems to promote movement.

The best way to get rid of campers is add more players in a smaller map. Like in this game just add 4 more players online and there will be too much action and shooting to camp around.

But that could lead to the dreaded "clusterf**k" and make the game unplayable. The biggest part of multiplayer for me is the satisfaction of defeating the enemy through skill, teamwork, determination, and tactics; not because I repeatedly got lucky and sprayed down a bunch of guys who weren't paying attention to me. It's obviously worse when you're on the receiving end.

Lol Shipment from COD4 on Headquarters, everyone equiped 3X grenades and an RPG as soon as the map showed up. If they managed to use all of that without dieing they had a helpful spraying LMG to back them up.

Ahh clusterf**k...

I remember how fun it was to stalk the campers in the first Crysis' multiplayer. If there's a player in cloak mode, you can hear sort of a hissing sound. So if you look carefully, you'll eventually find some guy with a sniper rifle cloaked in the bushes not pay attention to anything.

then you can go and punch him to death or run him over with a truck.

Good times.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
