My PC (Steam) experience

Gaming have always been a huge part of my life. I started gaming on the Atari 2600 as a kid, then moved to the NES and I had countless hours on Contra and Super Mario Bros. I was blown away when I first played Sonic on my SEGA Genesis. The time I got my Playstation one I realized that gaming was no longer a kids hobby, I was blown away by the immersive worlds, deep stories and mature themes and plot lines presented in Playstation era. I've been an enthusiastic gamer ever since.

People were talking a lot about PC gaming, and how it was superior to consoles, and how steam made everything easy for the average consumer to explore PC gaming. anyway I decided to give it a shot. I have had a steam account for almost two years now, but I didn't actually start playing regularly on it. my steam library is small, I usually buy games not available on consoles that interest me. Anyway, I wanted to get into PC gaming through steam. I was anxious and terrified of the complexity of the process "relative to consoles", I bought " Odd Worlds Abe's oddessy" and It was running perfectly on my laptop, then I bought " Devil May Cry 3" I was running OK, some glitches here and there but nothing gamebreaking. then I was curious to try "MYST", I found the game for $6, so I decided to try it out. I install the game then started playing it. bad news starts now, the game will always play on a small box in the middle of my screen!! I tried every possible solution to fix it with no luck. I went to steam forums to find that you have to "deal with it". I didn't give up, I lowered my monitor resolution then I got a bigger box with blurry mashed textures, it was unplayable! I decided to buy realMyst which is a 3D remake for the original "MYST". I bought it with $6, I started the game and it was laggy as hell!! then after 2 minutes of play the game freezes then I have to "force shut it down", again I went to steam forums, they told me to lower the resolution, deactivate the AA, then try again. I tried again with no luck!

The moral of my experience is that PC gaming is still "too much hassle" for the average consumer. I consider myself above average and quite knowledgeable about PC gaming, but I swear to God I almost pulled my hair of frustration. this incident also made me think about steam "Quality Control" or is "Is my PC not capable enough", it was frustrating experience for me.

Thank God we still have console that Just "put the CD" and enjoy, I wouldn't mind lower resolution, or less frame rate over "Convenient and ease of use"

I apologize for the long post but it was really tiring experience for me.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit19d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9219d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
