Over the horizons, there are games.

This post isn't to rant, nor to have myself stand on a high stool. I'm writing this because I feel that there are a lot of great games out there that we just don't see due to the hype of American gaming. I really don't know how I else I could've put it, but let's leave it as "American gaming", for now. Not to bash on anyone, but to educate on what else there is for us gamers to look for.

Now, I've been a gamer since the launch of the NES and never faulted away from being one. I love gaming, I enjoy playing a variety of games, but there has been this small but difficult issue when it comes to playing that "other" variety of games. No, I'm not talking about the porn-like games. It's the over-seas gaming. The first over-seas game I've ever played was the "190 Games" in one NES cartridge. I still have it too. It had a lot of games that my brother and I enjoyed, even though we didn't understand Korean.

As time has passed, and magazines started covering games from Japan, I always wanted to try those games out. I'd hear about the new Dragon Ball games, King of Fighters, and so forth. Being a HUGE Dragon Ball/Z/GT fan, I felt like I was being left out of an experience I would have loved. I just had to move on with what the American gaming companies put out. Not that we had terrible games, but.. I'm not too sure how to explain it, really. As I mentioned before, I left as if I was missing out on a great time with some interesting games.

Fast forwarding to.. NOW, the Japanese PS2 can be purchased at a reasonable price. Along with a lot of awesome PS1/2 titles. Just go to play-asia.com to find'm. Ever since I recieved my Japanese PS2 from an ex (her FAULT!), I started importing a LOT of PS1/2/3 games. I bought BASARA X, Sengokou BASARA 2, Battle Fantasia, Tobal 2, Dew Prism, Night Raid, Super Pang, Castlevania X (SotN), Melty Blood, just to name a few. Not only that, but I also bought a Super Famicom when I was in Akihabara. The fun and joy of playing those SNES are still a blast!

What I'm trying to get at here, folks, is that we need to look beyond our own borders if we want to experience something different.

the thing is, there are a lot of western gamers, like myself who really enjoy the games coming from the east, more so than the ones developed by western developers. i find that storytelling and character development is more superior in the games that come from japan.

but all of this is personal preference and there are those that love games from the east as there are those who love games from the west and so each side knows what audience it is catering to.

a lot of games, from both sides, get shadowed by the huge overly hyped and marketed games and it's a shame because there are a lot of great games that never got the recognition.

anyway, my point is that it's all personal preference and i'm sure everyone's preference steers them to the games that they know they will enjoy.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit11d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9211d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
