The title says it all. Gaming is being attacked on multiple fronts. It always has been, but never more than in the Present. Delusional people with either an axe to grind that they can't satisfy anywhere else, or in need of a political platform to launch their own personal agendas are attacking gaming with everything from sexism, to homophobia, to games causing violence. It is especially ironic considering that games, by definition, are a medium of entertainment.
Another problem are the apathetic and negative among us who attack or criticize any who would actually take a stand against all these attacks. An example is David Jaffe who called out Erin Burnett for her attacks on gaming. Now, anyone who knows David Jaffe knows he's outspoken. Anyone who knows Erin Burnett knows she'll do anything to take focus away from gun control initiatives. That's not the point. The point is that David Jaffe wasn't willing to stand by and let her try to claim that games are intrinsically linked to real world violence. Afterwards, when his post was submitted to this site, I witnessed people actually criticizing him for doing so with an attitude that he won't change anything so he shouldn't have bothered to say anything.
"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to sit by and do nothing." That's an appropriate saying. Gaming is being attacked. There is a very real, media/government based war against gaming. Unless you want what all of us here consider to be more than just a passing hobby to turn to nothing but interactive Sudoku or Leapfrog games, then you will stand behind any who would stand up for our right to enjoy our favoured form of entertainment.
You know what will happen if any of these groups that have a problem with games in any way get what they want. Our games will forever change to the most non-offending, bland, cookie cutter experiences we could imagine and the only way that that WOULDN'T happen is with each and every developer/publisher "donating" money to these groups and their causes.
Make no mistake, gaming is being threatened more today than ever before. Anita Sarkeesian, PETA, Erin Burnett, the Government of the United States of America. These are all people or entities fiercely attacking gaming right now, and with all the commotion about gun violence in the U.S., you bet your a$$ the bought and paid for mainstream media will skew absolutely everything they can against gaming.
Don't attack or criticize those people standing up and calling out ignorance. Don't support people who haven't picked up a game one single day of their life, and yet are attacking gaming with everything they've got. We need more people like Adam Sessler or David Jaffe who have come out and stated, with passion and conviction, gaming is NOT the cause of the world's problems. It's just the latest medium to become a scapegoat for launching political agendas and drawing attention away from the real problems that need to be addressed.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
