Is the XBox Scorpio too late for 2017 release?

Although XBOX Scorpio will give us gamers another reason to stay glued to our controllers, I feel that the Holiday 2017 release will be too late. Microsoft® by all means, I can’t wait to hear this one screaming in my living room (IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT). In some ways I do think that Sony’s approach MIGHT be smarter for the consumer (us gamers). Theoretically here is why: Electronic hardware is rapidly advancing at a very fast pace. Cell phones are upgrading every year or sooner, computers, and laptops are also, and as well as our High Definition TV sets. STOP RIGHT THERE!! I’ll focus right there for a moment.
High Definition TVs HDTVs/UHDTVs/UHD4KTVs: How long have we been in this error of 4K now? How about since 2003 in the camera market, 2004 with projectors, and of course the TV sets were for what it is worth, led by SONY® around 2011. So what’s on the horizon? How about 8k. You know Sony likes to try and drive the home entertainment market any way that they can. 8K resolution is around the corner, and I am pretty sure Sony already has a full head of steam in ushering in 8K some type of way. What way, you ask??? Tokyo 2020 Olympics for starters. WTH does the 2020 Olympics have to do with 8K? NHK, a company out of Japan has already been experimenting with Super Hi-Vision 8K broadcasting since the London Olympic Games in 2012 and developing since the mid-nineties. The Company itself opted to skip 4K broadcasting because 8K resolution was so near.
This almost sounds familiar, with what Sony is doing and has done in the past. (Sony®) As if to say, it might be too late to build a console to display 4K Native, so why not just upscale to keep cost low? So if the theory holds true Microsoft will have less than 2 years left to reap the rewards for “NATIVE 4K” gaming before the talks begin about the next “NATIVE 8K” gaming console that Sony would possibly LOVE to once again usher into the market.
Simply put, Sony seems to be looking further ahead if what I envision holds true. Why waste a tremendous amount of production time and money on basically introducing a fully capable 4K gaming console which in my opinion in comparison WOULD BE a generation upgrade with backwards compatibility, rather than a system update/upgrade. By mid-late 2019 or early 2020 we will probably have a bigger picture of the next generation jump in consoles. But then again…. HMMM is Microsoft breaking the 8 year cycle? If so then you might as well just Direct Deposit my check into Sony and Microsoft’s bank account.

8k is just crazy. Even with two titan X sli (22 teraflops) it can do 60 frames. but by the end of 2017 there will be more powerfull combos and in 2018 it could be possible for some to reach 8k60 frames.

Looks like theoretical goal posting of sorts but it could be true. The idea here seems the Scorpio could be outdated giving Sony time to develop 8k gaming in 2019 or 2020. 8k anything is way far off though it is real and its currently the highest one available in the world at not so affordable price. The only thing that's 8k is TV's/monitors and cameras but nothing else supports that signal not even streams. An 8k console is beyond ridiculous 4k is still ridiculous is just now becoming adopted let alone "affordably" available.

I agree, but I do think it is not as far off as I would like to think. When HD became the norm, 4k was starting to boast everyones interest.

Being a PC gamer and how technology advances in months we shall see if the Scorpio will be outdated. Feels like my 1080 will be outdated soon since the GTX 1080ti is almost here. I think the Scorpio will do fine though depending on the price.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing1d 14h ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit1d 15h ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster921d 12h ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Tanktopmaster921d 12h ago

Let me be clear. This is sarcasm
