RYSE son of rome was the worst game experience I ever had. Shallow everything. Gameplay mechanics were weak. The game played itself. Story was nonexistent. For all the hype on how it looked, was not impressed. Put it down after an hour.

Teenage mutant Ninja turtles : the one that released this gen by Platinum Games. OK I've been a lifelong TMNT fan and I have been aware that all releases to date have been bad, but I was kinda hopeful this one would be at least decent because Platinum Games were working on it. Boy was I wrong! This is the epitome of a budget title, and it makes it woese that I spend 60$ on it. I probably wouldn't have felt so burnt if I got it for a tenner, but yeah haven't even bothered to finish it.

FF13. After 50 hours realized I was wholly not engaged with story or game play when during a boss, one hit from taking him down, he focused on my lead party member and took down their health by 70% to zero. Gave up on it, maybe any other future entry in the series, then and there.

My worst game was Cosmic Carnage on the 32X.

Just picture this, you are playing Mortal Kombat 2 on the SNES at a friendly gathering.
Then a friend, that has to no real knowledge of fightings games, talks about how awesome the zooming is in Cosmic Carnage for 32X and how big the characters are in the TV screen.
Looking at Gamefan review I have my doubts because they score the game 78 out of 100 (back then any game score below 90 on Gamefan was probably trash) and Internet wasn't really out.

The worst game that I had ever played is 50 Cents Bulletproof. The control in that game is just fking horrible and the story is just nonsense (at least to me). I remember that I really used to like 50 Cent and was really looking forward to the game, but it was a disappointment at every level for me.

The Incredible Hulk - The Pantheon Saga, I got this game thinking it was going to be epic like the ones on the Sega. Even the screenshots were looking good. I played this game, and it had terrible controls, poor gameplay, poor level design(had enemies and traps littered everywhere), and it didn't really gave you clue where to go. And I died left and right, and still clueless than ever. And it didn't help the fact that I was young, because my attention span was short. So I gave it up after a short while. I didn't even finish the first level, it was so not fun.

Lair on the ps3. Amazing concept, great pre release cgi trailers, but ultimately too ambitious for its time and just technically broken.

Could be great if someone rebooted the concept with current tech and gameplay though.

Wow that sounds like a horrible bug! I have a hard time thinking of a bad game... I really spend hours reading reviews before buying games I usually hype myself to adore whatever I'll end up buying lol. Oh wait, yeah ok Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor for Kinect on Xbox 360... what a mess! I technically only played the demo but yeah the controls were so bad. Loved the idea but a huge disappointment... Never played the original, that must have been something. I wish they could make PC games like that controlled with a tablet as the dashboard!

Edit: I feel sorry for you @Christopher ... maybe it's because I waited to so long to play it (and it got patched) or the fact I played on Xbox but my experience with Max Payne 3 was a pretty smooth one. Loved that game. I can't compare it to previous entries as I only played this one but I thought it was great.

Rayman Raving Rabbids.......just thinking about it gives me a headache. Horrible mini games with controls that seem to deliberately make things hard for you. Oh, and the Rabbids annoyed the hell out of me.

EA's Medal of Honor remake

laggy, and clunky framerate. It gave me a massive headache and I never played it again. It sits in my drawer collecting dust. Hated EA ever since.

Ever since I've been buying my own games I've been pretty picky with what I've bought. Before that I honestly didn't get too many games, so I had to be pretty picky back then too and typically didn't ask for a game unless I knew it was something I wanted. I'm struggling to think of any game I've owned that I've genuinely found to be absolutely terrible.

The worst would probably be Spore on PC. Awesome creation features, but the gameplay itself left A LOT to be desired. The game was pure squandered potential.

Lair PS3. The graphics and the dragon animations were great for a launch game but the motion controls were abhorrent and atrocious. Even after they patched in the analog control I could not bring myself to complete that trash.

My recent horrible game was Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z.At first the gameplay started off decent then it got really bad & you couldn't pull off the moves & execute timed jumps that it almost seemed as if the game was broken.

Gravity Rush 2. Technically and graphically, the game was beautiful and flying around was just pure bliss. But what made it the worst was how all of that effort was wasted by the most boring missions, characters, and combat in a game I've played to date.

Close runner up and probably actually worst game I've ever played was Payday 2. The amount of dlc would make EA blush and the core gameplay loop is the perfect mixture of boring and annoying. The barebones zombies mode of world at war was more interesting and fun than anything in payday 2, and I've always avoided nazi zombies anyway.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. A game that's pretty much famous for being bad, and also the reason I decided to play it. It was pretty much what I expected, a broken mess. Like the devs just gave up half way through.

Crash Tag-Team Racing on PS2...and not just because of the gameplay.

To start off, I am a diehard fan of the original Crash Team Racing on PS1. I remember finding out about it by seeing it in the bargain bin at a rural Best Buy in the middle of nowhere Texas. We were traveling and my parents gifted it to me as an early birthday gift. Unfortunately I got so sick the moment we got back home (fever, aches, etc.). I was so eager to play it that I played it while being so deathly ill from that cold. I distinctly remember feeling so nauseated and restless from playing the game.

I wanted to love it so bad. On top of being sick and associating the game with massive headaches and a fever, I was so disappointed in the racing component of the game. The game thankfully had an original Crash like gameplay component to it, but other than that it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

In racing you would merge your car with rivals who were also driving...yeah mid-race you could merge with first place, your rivals would become your friends and protect you driving, and then you could un-merge and get launched to first place. It made no sense and only added more to my headache.

Till this day I would still choose to not play it again, just to avoid the unfortunate association with me being sick and the horrible gameplay design.

i have 2.... E.T. atari 2600....i don't think anyone has ever finished that game. not because they couldn't, but because they didn't want to....i tried to make sense of what to do but eventually you're better off using the cartridge to play fetch with a dog....

the 2nd.... fallout 3...yes 3.... i just hate games that requires a lot of time to do the most mundane things. talk to this person or that person to get info to go here and there but you have to wait until sunrise, sunset to do this or that.🙄...needless to say, i returned the game after a week.

The worst game I've ever play was Street Fighter The Movie Game. Godawful balance, shoddy controls, and found a way to be worst than the movie tie in.

Batman Forever on the Sega Genesis.

They tried to copy Mortal Kombat with digitized sprites, but fit it into a side-scrolling action game. It seems they even ripped the combat moveset straight from Mortal Kombat as well. The rest of the controls are awful as well. How was I able to use my grappling hook just now? How do I do it again? How do I stop using my grappling hook? The game doesn't really explain, and I'm pretty sure there was a second delay between when I pressed a button and when the character actually moved. Playing this as a child on a Genesis simply was not fun.

Being totally honest there is countless of horrible games out there and more are coming all the time and it's hard to pick the most bad of the bunch. I'll choose older game since they can't get updates/patches so Superman 64 it is then. Even in the 90's when I was a kid and we didn't have many games it felt the most pain to play.

I am into gaming and know all the scores, but the game that I quit playing after 30 hours was Fallout 3. I really didn't like the settings, graphics, quests, pitboy map. I forced myself to play and finally quit and sold the game.

The day Aliens Colonial Marines popped through my letterbox will forever be the day I stopped pre ordering games. The videos from E3 made it look like the Aliens game we were all waiting fo, the thrill of being hunted and being the hunter, the fact it was a first person shooter, the amazing graphics.....and then I played the game..it did not look like E3 vids, the Al was....Well there was no AI, the Aliens just did what they wanted, jumping up and down, dancing, getting stuck in walls.. I got it on the Friday and by Sunday I had taken it to Gamestation and part exchanged it.

Burnout 3: Takedown (metacritic 93) on PS2.

Now hear me out. I know the game is amazing. It blew my mind and at first I loved it, BUT... it was also my worst gaming experience I've ever had and it was my FIRST and LAST Burnout game ever.

Ok. I remember trying to get everything perfect in an OCD kind of gaming way. I remember just trying to get the best time or whatever on some really hard track with oncoming traffic and I was trying for such a long time and I finally made it and I could see the finish line, my race time was amazing, breathtakingly perfect for the whole race,dodging in a out of traffic, many planned close-calls, but just before the finish line, an oncoming truck ploughed straight into me from nowhere, destroying my race time and my soul.

In seconds, I ripped out the game DVD, frisbeed the disc straight out my window and I heard it smack into my neighbour's house. I calmly pulled out the power cords and calmly carried my PS2 out onto the concrete in my back yard. I slammed it onto the ground and stomped the living crap out of my PS2. I instantly felt a lot better. It was like a massive release of stress. Like some kind of radical gaming therapy. I stomped it until my shoes were covered in electronic guts and gizzards lol. I bought another PS2 a week later and never played the Burnout series ever again.

At the time I was an expert PS2 controller repairer, if you know what I mean. Luckily since then, I never damage any of my property. I've managed to evolve into more of a 'couch-slapper'. My launch PS4 controller remains intact. When compared to how I was back then, today, I'm as calm as a Buddhist in a bath robe, when I play games.

That was my worst gaming experience and the most angry I've ever been in a game. The game really was a marvel at the time, but I couldn't play even one minute more and I would never ever go back, no matter how critically acclaimed it was. Not even the Souls games have ever made me as frustrated as that game had done.

I know it's not a bad game at all, but for me, it was a really bad experience and it was definitely not for me.

"Where did you learn to fly?" The most abysmal, lackluster, visually horsecrap, dull, worst pop-up, ear-bleeding inducing sound effects, awful controlling, and topped off by the so-called "first" 64-bit system to bring it to your living rooms..CYBERMORPH! Hallelujah! Holy Shi*t! Where's the Tylenol!? ......

Resident Evil 5. Rented it from Blockbuster, played it for 20 minutes, then actually went back to return the game because it was that bad to me.

What made it the worst was basic mechanics like not being able to move while aiming, and the tiny dot as your reticle was way too small.

Bullet storm, I just hated the game and couldn't get myself to finish the game. It was technically sound but I found it rather boring.

For me it was gone home. I got it free from ps plus and I saw the trailers and it looked almost like a horror game and I saw that it was critically acclaimed so my expectations were pretty high. Turned out to be a walking simulator focused around a lesbian romance with no horror elements involved. Not even a good romance. To this day I am baffled why it is held with such high regard by critics.

The Skylight Freerange games come to mind. That or the vast majority of ZX Spectrum titles I played on that phone app compilation I had, because I was curious. If I've played anything worse it's probably a suppressed memory that I can't access.

Indigo Prophecy. It was already bad with bad writing/acting. Gameplay near nonexistent. Forced sex scenes that look esp bad in PS2 graphics but then we have giant office bugs. I played Superman 64 and I own ET on Atari and I'd much rather play those that ever play IP again.

Rage is the worst game I have ever played. Not only was the game a huge let down it made me terribly sick when I played it. I forced myself to finish it and at the end was so sick I ended up in the hospital.

Crackdown 2, so disappointing after how much I loved the first one. The first one was a surprise hit too, because I bought it for the Halo 3 beta but ended up enjoying it more than Halo 3! I still remember finding my 500th agility orb after hours of searching.

First time I played Demos Souls, got my ass kicked so bad I almost gave up. Happy that I did't but those first few hours were painful.

My worst game was alpha protocol. I had such high hopes and sega delayed it right before releasing without much press release. I was thinking maybe extra time will be good for polish but game needed more time in development to fine tune the gameplay mechanics. I just couldn't finish the game and to this day I think it's one of the biggest missed opportunities in gaming

Beyond 2 souls is a very close 2nd

I'm tempted to say Shaq Fu... but that honor should go to Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). I grew up loving the previous games up to Sonic Heroes.

Then this mess happened and I haven't played a Sonic game since.

It has to be RE 6. I fell in the trap and bought it. I can't remember a game where I thought the life was being sucked out of me every minute I was playing that incoherent, uninspired, pseudo-surviving horror game. That was the lowest this series has ever been.

Iron Man the game was the worst because the gameplay is just horrible, story and cutscenes are just bad and AI are so stupid. I finished that game and my head hurt so bad because how frustrating and bad is it.

While I did play some games in the 1990s and 2000s, however i really started embraced gaming as a hobby in 2014. So its kinda my worst game of this generation and I'd say its MGS5!! I had never played any MGS game before and when I saw such high reviews I was beyond excited and bought it Day 1. I was expecting to have the time of my life, instead I was repeatedly doing the same things allll over again in same locations taking waaay too much time to get the hang of htf stealth works and not understanding a thing about the story. I returned it in a day. Then when it got released on ps plus tried it again, same feedback. I still don't get how this game scored so high.

Worst game i played was arkham night on pc.. What made it worst was me selling my ps4 copy so that i can play it on 60fps with nvidia exclusive features on my new rig.. Sadly the gamw wud dip to 20fps and was an unplayable mess

Digimon world 4.

They took the fun turn-based combat in favour of an action games with weapons that didnt feel good. And the loading times was just theb worst with how it could take 2 minutes when going to another floor in the lobby for example. Felt so rushed and they didnt exactly know what they where doing.

Hands down, the worst game ever for me is the BMX XXX. Even Dave Mirra himself didn't want to be associated with the game which was initially developed as Dave Mirra BMX 3. I loved the first 2 Dave Mirra BMX games and when BMX XXX came out, it was like a slap to my face. It encapsulated everything that is wrong within the 'dudebro' culture and cranked up the misogyny to 11. Admittedly, I bought the game anyway despite knowing its inappropriate content (I was going through puberty at the time) and because it was supposed to be Dave Mirra BMX 3, I really had a glimmer of hope that at least the gameplay and singleplayer mode would be a blast like the other Dave Mirra games. The nude novelty wore off really quickly and I was left with a shallow and crappy game that cost me my monthly allowance.

16 years later and I still can feel the bitterness in my core when I think about this game.

GTA IV. Don't get me wrong, the game had a lot going for it, but after playing it, I was severely disappointed. I think all Rockstar games are disproportionately overrated considering the fact that their gameplay sucks. Their worlds are well done, but the themes in GTA just didn't do it for me. As someone who tries a bit of everything, seeing a game with a 98 meta score had to be something worth playing. I have almost 120 Plats on PSN, and yet I couldn't bear to finish GTA IV. There was a part of the game where you're making your way up this multi floored warehouse, all the while guys who have good angles on you are shooting down on you with highground advantage. Suffice it to say, I died plenty and there were no checkpoints throughout the level. Well, once I finally got to the top floor and everyone was cleared, I did a check of the area to make sure I wasn't missing anything. As I approach the door to the roof exterior, Niko's cousin, Roman, bursts through the very same door, knocks my character over, my character trips and falls all the way down to the bottom floor and dies. Reloads the game, right at the beginning of the bottom floor, enemies all reloaded. I uninstalled.

I would have to give Assassin's Creed Unity, Syndicate and Origins a shared spot for worst game. I think Unity was the first sign for me that the series had drifted from what I liked about in AC, I didn't feel like the story had any weight anymore, and I was just going trough the game to reach the end. To be honest though, I never finished Unity and Origins, I made it about halfway (I think) before I got bored. The only reason I finished Syndicate was because I forced my way trough it, and to this day, I could not re-tell you what the plot was. It was so poorly paced, and there was no build-up to a climax, so the ending just kinda happened. Thanks to these three I completely gave up on Assassin's Creed, never bothered picking up Odyssey and I'm not likely to play any future AC games either...

The only one coming to me atm is breath of the Wild but I'm sure there's older games that I dislike even more. I really didn't enjoy breath of the Wild. The weapons breaking mechanic was ridiculous and happened way too quickly. The stamina bar was awful and the way to increase it meant giving up the opportunity to increase your health. Having it so that you can't climb when it's raining is just such a pointless attempt at realism and serves no purpose other than to frustrate. The idea of being able to explore everywhere is cool but it felt pointless because why would I spend that time exploring when any really cool weapons I find would just break after a few fights?? Combat mechanics also didn't do it for me.

Halo 2. It was completely ignorant of what made the original great and ended up being the single biggest disappointment in gaming for me. Paradoxically, I probably would’ve enjoyed it if the original didn’t exist.

I don't usually get disappointed with games even if they are mediocre but i got really sad when i played battlefield V recently. I thought i'd give the game a go but it's basically a reskin of BF1. On top of that the SP is a buddy mess and the multiplayer doesn't even have some modes that battlefront 2 had! That's the one that comes to mind rn. Really not a 60$ game.

I Platinumed Skyrim, ok. I did!
Except that the trophies are glitched! Basically there is this quest we’re you have to either take a ring or skin some wolf guy. That quest is glitched and is part of a long arc of quest that you need. Worst thing is that the PS3 version of Skyrim is the worst one with horrendous loading and a decreasing frame rate as you play.
I really didn’t want to go back to do those quest arcs because it would take too long. What sucks is that is basically the last thing I had to do on Skyrim and basically gave up.

Skipper and Skeeto. Another case of actually enjoying the game a lot and it being ruined by corrupted save files:/. A shame, very child-friendly puzzle that made me develop my puzzle-solving skills from an early age.

Wow, I have played so many bad games over the years that it's hard to pick just one. Naturally I am tempted to pick something recent that's currently in the news because it's the new outrage, but I am sure once it gets the normal amount of time past it, it will probably shuffle in with all the other bad games and not seem quite as bad as it does now. So I will try to pick something older. I am purposefully not picking phone games as that is about like punching a baby and it's not really worth going for such low-hanging fruit. So I will pick an obscure horror game for the original Playstation called "D". It also released on MS-DOS, the 3DO and the Saturn, but I only played the PS1 version.

"D" was a typical horror based game with the usual puzzles and a mystery to eventually solve but was a bit short on gameplay with everything on rails and filled with clips where once you took an action, the game would play out the result in a FMV clip before you could regain control of the character again. The story winds you up in some typical mansion filled with assorted horror clichés and moments that were supposed to be scary, but due to the disjointed feel between controlling your character and the FMV scenes, nothing really surprised you. The only real interesting part was that you were limited to only 2 hours to solve the game and there was no way to save or pause the game, which while this was and interesting game mechanic, it also meant your trial and error stumbling through the game was going to be filled with a lot of replaying the same stuff over and over. The game had multiple endings, but I only ever got one and after playing through the beginning of the game multiple times to find my way through, that was more than enough for me. At the end of the day, the only real horror aspect of the game was it's horrible design.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4)

The reason why is not because of the story but the game constantly crashing, corrupting my save file, deleting my multiplayer level which also deletes everything you unlock and trophy progress (not server based).

Now Im gunna sound "typical" but its definately No Mans Sky for me....huge hype into nothing. Was excited to play it first then realised what a load of trash the game is. I know its had updates to make it better and have tried them but.....I just give up in like 10 minutes lol.

The worst game I played would be Ikari Warriors 2 for NES mainly because you were fighting against bugs or aliens instead of people and there wasn't any music in the game. On top of that it had the slowest opening I have ever seen where you have to read text that is extremely slow and you can't skip it.

Hard to tell, but definitely a mobile game.

For me it was Flight Simulator.

I was very young when it released and my cousin would rave about it non stop. So I saved up money for what felt like a life time to get it. When I did finally get it I hadn't a clue what was happening. It took a while to figure out how to take off and fly without crashing, When i got that down I asked my cousin "So what now?" "Learn to land" was the response. I was devastated that there wasn't any more to it than that. I'd also end up a fireball each time I tried landing.

I never trusted my cousin when it came to games again

Altered Beast (PS2) and Rygar the legendary adventure (PS2): I would never abandon the game and I will finish it regardless but this game made me think about bad games. I stumbled across GamerRankings.com after this and realized majority of the games my so called friend purchased for me from his own shop was rubbish. He would call many 50-60% rating games its a AAA title just buy it.

Yoshi's Story. I bought it in 1998 for my Nintendo 64 and I finished it in 2 hours. wtf??? I had paid bout 30,000 drachmas (about $100 today) and I finished it 2 hours? I was really disappointed so I returned the game the same day to the game store and I bought banjo-kazooie (thanks god).

Mafia 3 on pc. Game was broken, repetetive and chore to play.

Dark Souls 2. On top of looking like it was unfinished, it lacked soul as it's filled with fake difficulty via copy paste. I enjoy difficult problems to solve especially if the problem is unique, but Dark Souls 2's problems were lazily designed.

I can handle difficult. However, when I feel like I am fighting a line of code instead of adversaries in a game, I feel I have been railroaded. Dark Souls 2 is the only game I have ever deleted from my PS4.

To finish dead space 2 on hard with ONLY 3 saves

Dark souls, call me lazy but no map and no objectives is frustrating, i have many other games to play, not gonna spend weeks on one.

Back to the Future for the NES. There's simply nothing redeeming about it: controls, graphics, sound, lack of a real point, you name it. It was my first truly 'bad game' experience and scarred me for life. Thankfully, stores still took games back for being crap back then.

Shadow of war. Hands down.

Godzilla: Unleashed on the Wii. I had to review the game for a website. It was bad in every way. Looked horrible. Played horrible. It sucked in every way.

Mass Effect Andromeda. I don't think I disliked a game as much as this in my gaming years. I truly disliked everything about it. The gameplay, the environments, the enemy design, the facial animations, the multiplayer, the story. It felt lifeless and boring. I really tried to like it and gave it lots of chances but by the time i reached havarl and encountered a bug where i wasn't gaining XP and was talking to an NPC, i was like "Why the hell am i wasting my time with this shit?" . I uninstalled the game then reinstalled a few months later to try the multiplayer as i have loved the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 but somehow the multiplayer here was worse, the combos weren't satisfying, the guns felt mediocre to shoot and the classes didn't feel as unique as they did in Mass Effect 3 so I uninstalled again and never looked back.

Nobody can possibly beat the worst game I've ever play, it was a game on the spectrum called advanced lawnmower simulation, even by 8bit standards it was awful in every single way had some of the worse reviews I've ever seen. It had just one button and random deaths for no reason at all , just YouTube it and i guarantee you won't find worse.

Rise of the robots. Myself and two friends had made it the final of the tv show Gamesmaster (series 3 - team championship. Dexter Fletcher presenting). My teammate was supposed to play vortex on the snes but it was such an early that the chipset had broken. A ridiculously early build of Rise of the robots was used. The controls and input response were shocking. Moves didnt work, it was cumbersome and all round awful. The game had no redeeming features and the release version was no better. Horrible memories of that game. Cost us the final

Too Human is the worst game I’ve been ever played. I had been reading about it for years, and I was looking forward to it, but when it finally came out it let me down in every possible way. The controls were terrible, the graphics were bad, and it was just not fun to play. I played it for about 30 minutes and the took it and traded it in.

Pokemon Yellow. Now don't get me wrong, I loved this game as a kid. But it was exactly the same as Red (eew) and Blue (best version, clearly!) except that "OMG MUM BUY IT FOR ME! BUY IT BUY BUY IT BUY IT! YOU START WITH PIKACHU AND HE FOLLOWS YOU!" I got it. I played it. I loved it. But thinking back it was such a con. Pokemon Yellow was the predator and I was the prey. I know Pokemon is still popular now but other than Pokemon Stadium, that was the last game in the franchise that I played.

I remember years ago, buying The Dizzy Collection for C64. It had quite a few games in the box, but the only two that worked were Treasure Island Dizzy and a puzzle game called Fast Food... I was only 9 and the box set had cost me three months pocket money.

All the problems with crashes these days, but back then, you had to use a tiny screwdriver to align the cassette deck to work with some games, then hope that the thing would load properly after 15 minutes of watching a seizure inducing loading screen. If not, it was back to trial and error haha.

E.T. on the Atari 2600, omg it's good awful and so frustrating STOP FALLING INTO HOLES! Also I hated how unclear the game was and I didn't even know what to do or how to beat it. I actually YouTubed a walkthrough a couple years ago because I was just curious how to actually beat it.

SaGa frontier...I remember being so excited to pick this game up... But man!!! It was horrible!

A one off demo of a game called Vampire Rain, terrible for it's generation. Pretty much what a failed high school video game would look like and had the cheek to charge full retail.

Cheap splinter cell zombie type knock off, empty environments, outdated graphics, pointless story or meaning to it. I still taken the pity of playing on multiplayer and it didn't get anywhere better.

Luckly it's so rubbish you wouldn't have anyone to play with and usually many don't know what it is.

The worst game for me was bloodbourne because when it came out day one there was issues with AI and they always seem to get me even though i was not even near them

Duke Nukem Forever

In total it isn't the worst game out there, but to see an icon go out like that is just a travesty. Especially after all the troubles trying to save the game.

Anticipation was high and even went on launch night to pick it up.......I should have taken the blue pill, so I could wake up the next morning and believe whatever I wanted.....like this game was the best ever. Time to wake up! Nice graphics but really wonky controls and was so frustrating that my friend and myself quit playing after just a couple hours......Big disappointment.....so I ate a cookie afterwards and you know what? I felt right as rain......then I remembered I spent $50 dollars on this game.......should of taken the red pill and stayed in Wonderland.

Played it years after the original release date and all the controversy and flame war I was caught up in then. I really wanted to give it a chance, I really wanted to like it, but it made me do sg. I've never done before - watched the rest of the story on youtube after I completely lost my interest in the great fields.. Final Fantasy XIII was such a let-down - I didn't try the following two episodes

Lords of the fallen. Pre ordered it using PSN & the clunkiness was so bad I couldn't even continue after beating the first boss.

Making a game so dependent on timing and dodging,but with clunky controls was a big no-no for me.

Awful Graphics, awful feel and control, just a really bad game all around. Never again. :(

Gears 1. The game is so slow that I stopped playing 15 minutes into it.

Finishing Final Fantasy 8 3 months after it was released on PS1 and while watching the ending there was powercut and corrupted my save on my memory card so I had to re-play from scratch

The worst game for me was probably Final Fantasy X. Much like with the reasoning in the Max Payne 3 example, it’s not because this is a bad game. Bad games are something you can quit and forget. With FFX though, I stayed on the hunt for what I was supposed to like from the first cinematic to the final battle. I like JRPGs, people tend to really like FFX, so I thought something had to be there. Instead it became my worst game out of the sheer disappointment and just feeling like I was playing a game because it was supposed to be good.

In the end, I must have put 60 hours into FFX and can wholeheartedly say I never want to go back.

I don't know about worst game ever, but one of the worst of recent years is probably Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. You barely have any control over what happens and it was just a shameless way to sell amiibos.

Ride to Hell Retribution. I paid full price for it on release and is a solid reminder to me why I no longer pre order games.
The visuals looked like the game should have come out five years before it did,the open world I read about in early interviews was gone, the voice acting was abysmal the controls were worse.
The game had ZERO redeeming quality. I felt utterly ripped off and this was way before Steam had a refund option. Having spent £40 on it I was determined to complete it, you know silently hoping to myself that it'll get better but it never did. Due to various crashes, glithes and corrupted saved files I quit trying. It's been sat in my "Hidden Games" section on steam because I am ashamed to let my friends see that I bought it when they come over.

Mass Effect Andromeda. What a flop and a fall from grace. It made it worse for me realizing that Andromeda had worse animations than previous mass effects on older gen systems.

I'm not sure many people played it, but Alundra 2 on the PS1 has to be one of the worst gaming experiences I've ever had. For those that don't know, it's a 3D action rpg platforming puzzle game..yeah, one of THOSE games.The story was... not all that great, so you would think the gameplay was pretty good right? Not really. Combat was too basic, the controls were garbage, and the puzzles ranged from too easy to too complex. The boss fights were terrible because the combat was too simple; enemies did too much damage so you were always dying.

As a kid, this game was nearly impossible to beat. If it wasn't the poor platforming, boring combat, or ridiculous puzzles, then it was the super basic story that helped lose interest in this title. It's like they built a game where it's soul purpose was to make you give up half way through.

There were so many that I rented as a child that I just blocked out, so it's hard to say definitively which is worst. Because of the time of year, I'm going to go with Home Alone on the NES.

Not really the "worst" game I've played, but Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike for Gamecube.
Factor5 was churning out masterpieces with the Rogue Squadron series. This particular game fell way short of expectations. The on-foot sections, while visually impressive, were inhibited by poor controls, a terrible camera, and utterly forgettable missions.

I recently completed Shadow of the Tomb Raider and I have to say that I hate this game. My biggest gripes with the previous game were the controls, the input lag and the camera. All of those things seem to be worst with this game, along with other things. The story is forgettable. The hub worlds are bigger and I hate it.

They basically did what Rocksteady did with Arkham Knight. People wanted to used the Batmobile and Rocksteady went overboard with it and turned the final game in the trilogy into Twisted Metal. People wanted more exploration in the new Tomb Raider trilogy, so they built these boring hub worlds and took a lot of the action out of the game.

I don't think the game is terrible. I like to play games multiple times and see if I really like it or hate it. Some games I play a second time and realize that it sucks and vice versa. So I plan on playing the NG+ mode because I definitely enjoyed some parts of the game, so I'm willing to give it another try.

Cross Edge, not only was the combat dull but the developers thought it a good idea to add 2D platforming sections into the game with random encounters, and since those encounters killed you momentum if you got into a random battle during a jump, you'd have start that section over again.

Personnally 'Heavenly Sword'. Everything you can think of was terrible. The graphics, controls, camera angle, the gameplay, the story. I apoligize for those who enjoyed but for me it was utterly abysmal

Assassin's Creed Origins

The stealth mode isn't that great, there are no so much places to hide, or mixing up with the crowd.
It's a gorgeous world this game but everything Assassin's Creed was has been deleted including being an assassin. They do give you the option go in sneaky or just go all out attack but honestly that's never been the focus of the game. The combat its more like Witcher, but the parry system in Witcher its more fun. For me the game isn't an Assassin's Creed game. I like to not be exactly like the old ones, but so much mechanism that worked well in previous games were taken out.

The game is awesome, but it isn't Assassin's Creed anymore.

This one was really hard for me but I'd have to say Skyrim. I loved it but due to the fact the main story bugged out and I never got to finish my story line after a 200 hour save. Still disappointed to this day about it. 😭😭😭

COD in general i gave it a fair shot but ive never felt like i wasted my time more than with those games and Activisions customer support is trash

Too Human. Not because I didnt enjoy the game, but because I did. It's one of my all time favorites. It's my worst because I loved the franchise so much, only to see Silicon Knughts fall apart and cancel the remaining sequel's. Maybe there's hope, but at this point I'm still sad that I'll never get to finish that saga.

Superman 64 could possibly be the worst game I ever played. It didn't make sense why most of the game you're just flying through rings. LMAO, you're being timed while flying through rings, over and over and over again. There's no plot, nothing going on, just flying through rings and occasionally lifting up a car. A truly horrible game, and without a doubt the worst Superman game ever unleashed on the gaming public.

Big Rigs--Over the road racing. It is so bad that it becomes memorable and very hilarious

Has to be Superman 64! God I hated that game with a passion! It controlled for shit, looked like shit and was just an overall abortion! I've played some turds but this is the one that always comes to mind.

Hyper universe. Bad experience with the devs and pr, i felt cheated out of my money and to really drive it home they just announced that it's closing service. The game was fine but balance was crap and they never got around to fixing it. Never got my money back either. The main thing that drove players away was the censorship.

Assassin's Creed 3. Not the worst game ever made, but the most disappointing in recent memory because of the lame, LAME ending after all that buildup.

It was a case of overhyped expectations. The advertisements for a video game based on my favorite book: The Lord of the Rings.

Up to this game, most LOTR games were exceptional compared to many games based on books. Battle for Middle Earth was a great RTS...

Shadows of Mordor was supposed to be this epic game where you could recruit enemies and have them fight. What we got: a screen wherein the "recruited enemy" would get a red X through it if it "lost." There wasn't much determination in how it played out.

One that comes to mind is Resident Evil 6. My buddy and I beat RE5 together on split screen, all in one night (amazing btw). Then when RE6 came out we wanted to relive those good old days. He buys it, we hop on the game, hop on the Leon story, and after about two hours of gaming split screen, we did the saddest thing ever. We were thinking the same thing, but didnt want to say it. He said, "dude this game is kinda boring." And I agreed. I wasn't mad, I was just disapointed.

There have been many terrible games officially released, but at least there's usually still something about them that could allow you to have some kind of fun with them. This really was not the case at all with Superman 64. The game is worse than dull and offers nothing but a frustrating experience due to it being buggy as heck, having bad frame-rate, looking like crap, and being terrible to control. It's such a mess.

No game should ever be released in such a state as that game was in, and any publisher trying to push such garbage out the door does not deserve to exist. Though, it is a game that I think every single person that gives all of these modern games bad reviews because of very minor issues should be forced to play through. These morons have no idea what a bad game is.

Driv3r for the PS2. I wanted so much to like it after the fantastic 1st & 2nd Driver games, but it was such a disappointment. Maybe it was trying to hard to be like GTA.

As a veteran of Fallout games. I really hate FO4. I didnt even try to finish it. That game its mediocre in all senses.

The worst experience i ever had with a game is actually not a bad game itself. It was Jan 1st 2005 and I was playing the gamecube version of FZero GX and I had an epileptic seizure. It is the first time I'd ever experienced a seizure while playing and i have a history of epelipsy that is controlled by medication. It doesnt always work though and this day it happened.

My son was 6 at the time and had never seen me in that state before and so my wife called for an asistance to which he uncle was a fire captain at the time. So when they got there... he took my son in the other room and explained to him that things would be fine. I, myself, woke up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. all i had was what my wife told me had happened. To this day I have not played that game again, I remember it though... very fast and its speed coupled with it being somewhat early in the morning and my meds wearing off from the night before all culminated into what was bound to happen at some point.

Mine was Tales of Vesperia. Similar to the Max Payne example. I faced lock up and would lose hours of grinding. So I save every 30 minutes down to every 10 minutes. The final nail was when I met Rita in the game and used her in combat. My Xbox 360 red ring and I pretty much went to ps3. Im excited and yet terrified of the definitive edition for ps4, but those bad memories of grinding are haunting me. Lol

Geez, the worst game I ever played. The problem with terrible games is that you play them for a few minutes, then quickly move on and erase them from your memory. Especially on the old days on C64, Amiga, SNES, etc.
So no doubt the worst games are the ones that I can't even remember.

You know what? I'm going to go with a recent demo I played, which I found incredibly disappointing: Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise.

I'm a big Yakuza fan, and I was interested to see what those devs would do with the Fist of the North Star license. I had seen the anime as a teen, but wasn't overly impressed with it back then, but still, think Yakuza gameplay and ultra-violence, and you'd think you'd have something there...

Well, sadly, it really couldn't have been less boring of they tried. Not coming as a huge surprise, but main character Ken isn't all that interesting, but worse is that the Mad Max world these characters inhabit, is just really really dull. Visually. Design-wise, it's just .... nothing....

Grays and sand.

Gameplay and menus were pretty much similar to those in Yakuza, meaning they look a bit outdated, and overall the character-models, animation, and world design just look like it's a PS3 game, and not a very pretty one at that.

Of course, this being a 'Yakuza' game, it's all about the fighting, but even that wasn't very impressive, and didn't even come close to the experience in Yakuza Zero.

Worst of all was probably the races, which .... I can hardly describe it actually.... let's just say you never really feel in control of your vehicle.

I'm sure those who are huge fans of the anime will find something to enjoy in there. Especially if they have never played any of the Yakuza games before.

To me though, it felt like a total waste of my time. It controlled like a brick, it looked like poor last-gen title (while I think the recent Yakuza games look very nice, especially with all the reflections in the puddles of water, the bright signs and lights at night, etc), and it's not a game I'd recommend to anyone.

Borderlands might not be the worst but as far as i can think that game was so very dull

This USB controversial but GTA4 due to the terrible controls. Devoid of color and fun this was a total let down.

Candy Crush, started out as an easy fun time filler, but as the levels got harder it just became a chore and almost entirely dependant on luck. To make matters worse the non-purchased version had a builtin time lilit which you could circumvent, by changing the date on your phone, causing all kinds of subsequent errors

I was given The Uncanny X-Men (NES) as a gift and played it only a few times. I was excited to play X-Men, but was really disappointed. There wasn't much to like about it at all.

There was a short game included on the Over The Hedge DVD, that gave me a headhache. The movie was good though.

I was around 8 when Mike Tysons Punch Out came out. I couldnt for the life of me beat Soda Popinski. On probably the 100th time of fighting him and losing, my dad caught me placing my middle finger on the screen and mumbling some cuss words. He took my NES controllers through the rest of the week. My finger perfectly shaped his head.

Definitely ET lol. I won’t even bother explaining why I hate this garbage 😂 and for something modern, I’ll say Croas Edge for the PS3.

It had to be Finding Nemo for Gamecube. The title is pretty self explanatory: you want to find Nemo because watching all those eternal loading screens constitute 90% of the game.

This is a hard question since most of the games I played were pretty enjoyable. Probably Persona Q after having moderate expectations from the other games(as this was a spin off) , the main problem I had was it was just way too much dialogue. Especially at the beginning :/. The gameplay didn't really hook me either so meh.

I will have to say FFX, I really LOVED that game. About 60hrs into it I couldn't, literally couldn't continue, I was completely stuck due to my speccing.
I must confess that I had put a lot of effort into speccing my go to characters so they were perfect.
What I didn't care about at all was how I specced the party members that I didn't care for as much, and there was a certain part in the story that I did not have access to the characters that I'd specced correctly.

Long story short, due to my own sheer incompetence of only having one save file and that save being at a time and place where I couldn't grind mobs to get exp... I just had to admit defeat and put it aside.

That's the only time a game made me cry :'(

Oof…now the quickest answer that comes to mind would be Ride to Hell: Retribution. But that one seems unfitting for “worst game” when considering how often I was laughing at it (would like to do a blog on that soon).

No, if we’re going for “worst game” I’m left with considering something that was more boring or pretentious; something like 4PM or The Grinch (PS1). I think I’ll settle on The Grinch. It’s one of those generic movie-license games I never got around to finishing due to vague objectives and whatnot. There was something especially boring in how it handled the material. It straddled this strange line between holding my short attention span for collectibles yet so boring the entire venture felt empty. I think it marked the first time I conceptualized the idea of a video game stealing part of your life away that you’ll never get back. For one year, The Grinch did steal my Christmas. :’(

Lord's of the Fallen. No soul and horrible controls. I can't stand losing all my stuff when I die as well.

I loved Black and was so looking forward to this spiritual successor. Nada. This game was so bad for a number of reasons. Horrible everything. I felt sick that I had spent $$$ on it. The ONLY reason I got as far as I did through the campaign was because trophies started popping. At the time, I was a trophy whore.

Just cause 3. The game was fun don't get me wrong, i love blowing stuff up. But it was wayyyyy too repetitive for me to attempt to finish.

Metal Gear Solid V.
NOT because I think it is a bad game but because for some unknown reason I can't enjoy it. It had great reviews, I watched let's plays, but when I tried playing it myself I didn't have fun at all and stopped after a few missions and roaming around. I really wished I'd enjoyed...

That title will belong to gone home. The game was absolutely nothing like how it was advertised. It appeared to be some sort of mystery but ended being a walking simulator about walking around a house.

I would have to say Daikatana. There were so many delays to go with the hype that when it arrived it was such a mess.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
