Today I was shopping around at a local Walmart, when it dawned on me!
The Wii U cost $300, while the PS3 was $150, then I started to really think about that...Then it hit me! The PS3 actually offers a better value then the "next gen" Nintendo Wii U. I must be crazy.. Right?
When I went to the game aisle, I could not believe what I saw, a scarce Wii U game library with a lot of the same games PS3 had.
The Playstation 3 offers a "SOLID" lineup of first, and still supported third party games? But the Wii U still had to have something, something besides a handful of first party and retro games.
But I could not think of it...
Next I looked to the hardware. Looking up specs and hardware info, I still could not get a solid answer on what was more powerful, but what they did outside of gaming astonished me.
The PS3 is a nice cheap multimedia center! You can put videos and music on it, and it supports a "TON" of formats, but the Wii U does not.
The Nintendo Wii U Gamepad, is a gimmicky controller at best, and with the PS3 Dualshock 3, you get a solid easy to replace controller, and you do not have to worry about not being able to find a replacement.
Another user friendly thing on Sony's behalf, The Playstation Network allows you to re-download games linked with accounts, and the Wii U games are on a per console basis, meaning that if you break the system you have to re-buy the games. Nintendo does not fix this!
While you can say all 8th gen systems get trumped by the ps3. they still have somthing to offer besides one game every 6 months.
Nintendo used to be the BEST EVER! But now, Captain Toad, followed up by 6 month droughts with Splatoon, a no name game, incomplete until August 2015, with one multiplayer mode! and 6 hours of linear gameplay?
No real music and movie format support? No real gamepad support?
This is Nintendo's worst console thus far, and as a Nintendo fan, I do not say that with a smile.
The PS3 not only has what Nintendo used to have in "first party killer apps" but also more support than the "one more time" "NEXT GEN" Nintendo Wii U. What gives? Am I the only one who wants better from Nintendo? Who sees the real competitior behind Iwata's old school buisiness? Thanks for your time. Just some food for thought. I feel Nintendo could do better and I wish I did not feel like many others do.
"When is the NX going to come out already?"
I have owned played and sold the Wii U for the better supported 3ds untill then, The 3ds will have to be my Nintendo fill.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.
Honestly, the PS3 offers a better value than any of the 8th gen consoles because it's been out for going on 9 years, dude. If someone never had a ps3, they have several YEARS of games to play through. In another blog i did i compared the first year line up of the PS3 and PS4, and PS3 decimated it. I wish we had a console half as good as the PS3 this gen.
The wii u's value doesn't lie in its multimedia functions, but in games that you can't play anywhere else. To be honest, i'd trade having a third blu-ray device under my TV for the backwards compatibility that Nintendo went for. Also about Splatoon, it's hardly no-name. It's selling like wildfire from what we've seen. I also criticized the content distribution, but so far we've had weekly updates.
Also, once your wii u dies your games aren't lost forever. I can verify this, as when my wii u bricked and i mailed it to nintendo, they not only restored all of my content but checked my club nintendo account to restore all of my original wii content that was ported over there. So the whole "you lose everything when it breaks" myth is baseless, assuming you aren't a dumbass who doesn't contact the manufacturer.
If you ask me, not only does the Wii U represent nintendo's worst console thus far, the PS4 and Xbone represent the worst from their respective companies as well. There's just not a lot to play on any of the 8th gen consoles. The ps4 is the only other one i own and although it is brilliantly made, there's just not enough to play considering it's been out for 18 months.
PS3 has more value than all 8th gen consoles combined.
You can't really Compare a console that's been out for 9 years and a console that's been out for 3. The console that's been out longer will always win. Hell, the Sega Saturn (with it's sparse lineup) would beat even the Dreamcast a year after it's launch.
The Wii U has some of the best exclusive games released this generation like Bayonetta 2, Smash 4, Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8. And as for the rest of this year: Xenoblade Chronicles X and Star Fox U are nothing to sneeze at. As an 8th Gen console, it more than proves it's worth.
"Gamepad is a gimmicky controller at best"
So you've never once used a WiiU. Great to know you have such a strong opinion on something you've never used.
the video on the subject.
