Lost interest in skyrim on my pc but the witcher 2 was amazing! I preferred its slightly more linear style as it helped tell an amazing story and its production values were great! A nice point in the withcher that can offer a different experiance to my first play through where as skyrim doesnt really offer that as you can do everything whenever u want

is all about personal taste and preference , I think they are both great

i agree that they're two different types of RPGs and it can be hard to compare them because of that. however, i would say The Witcher 2 is definitely better, because if you compare what each game attempts to do respectively, The Witcher 2 does what it's trying to do far better than Skyrim does what it's trying to do.

Skyrim's world is like the universe--mostly void of life, but if you travel far enough, you'll come across something to see/do. that's its biggest flaw (outside of the technical issues)--the game as a whole is lifeless. The Witcher 2, on the other hand, is overflowing with life, vibrancy, and believable characters.

Most RPG's are better than Skyrim....

Well, I haven't played any of the Elder Scrolls or the Souls games. But I have played Fable 2 and 3 and The Witcher 2 stands head and shoulders over both.

Now don't take this the wrong way, I LOVE Fable. And I would love it even more if Fable IV took a step back to being an actual RPG again, but so far, The Witcher 2 is better than the experiences I've had in the Fable Universe.

Perhaps I shouldn't compare The Witcher and Fable universes, because one is meant to be cartoon fantasy, and the other is more mature, dark fantasy.

From the customization, to the environments, to the enemies, to the unrelenting, "OH CRAP, I SHOULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN THIS OPTION" choices, heck, as a matter of fact, The Witcher 2 is one of the best games I've EVER played in my life.

Did I mention that this game is tough as hell? It's one of the very few games I've played that actively seeks every opportunity to kick my ass.

So it's more less quantity over quality

Design,story,characters,combat and complexity of overall experience is much better in Witcher 2,very mature game which is pretty rare.Witcher games did justice to Sapkowski,and that was pretty hard considering the quality and entertainment of books.

They're both overrated and they both suck. I'd rather play Dragon Age 3 over both of them.

I haven't played The Witcher 2 yet, but I have the first and have played that some, but not a lot. To be honest, I really don't care for how the combat is set up in the game; Click to attack, wait a second, attack again for a combo-hit kind of thing, repeat. I'm sure it gets a bit more fun as you go on, but I just don't like that style over the combat style in the Elder Scrolls games. It's just my opinion, but I think that The Witcher would have been a whole lot better if the combat was done in the style of Baldur's Gate, or Dragon Age. I would have enjoyed that much more.

Both Skyrim and The Witcher 2 offer some great things, though, but they each have a completely different direction that they're taking. The Witcher seems to be more of a story and character driven game, while Skyrim is more about loot, killing, exploring, leveling, and just getting lost into the world and great music.

To me, Skyrim is the better game, but I can certainly see why someone may choose The Witcher 2 over it, or maybe even give them both the same rating. It really just comes down to preference. Just like some people love Halo, some people love CoD, and some people love both.

Everytime I read the words 'Dark Souls' I remember why checkpoints, quick saves and the overall todays save game mechanics were invented.

Also I tend to feel very sleepy.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are better than both if you can handle them.

The Witcher 2 actually has depth. All the quests aren't just "Go here, talk to this guy, go to this cave, kill this monster, get this item, go here, talk to this guy, win." The choices you make in The Witcher actually matter.
The combat in Skyrim is just atrocious. Backpedal while mashing left mouse button, oh gee that's fun. While the combat in The Witcher 2 really isn't anything special, compared to Skyrim it's god damn amazing.
Oh, and The Witcher 2 actually looks like it came out in 2011, while Skyrim looks like something from 2006.

You can't compare two games that are not the same. That being said, i have not found another game that takes my attention like Skyrim. The only game that comes close is fallout, which is understandable because it's elderscrolls with guns
