EA's logic lol... Chuck money at the problem :D

supremacy5123d ago

If 80million is their investment and they plan to cut projects while their at it? I dont know if I can say they are heavily invested?

I mean killzone alone was over 50million this gen, nevermind GTA4 or any of those other games like halo 3 which I am sure was somewhere in the 75million range?

kreate5123d ago

Halo 3 was in the 75 million range? U sure about that?

supremacy5123d ago (Edited 5123d ago )

@ kreate

You know what? You are right, halo 3's budget wasnt 75 million in fact it wasnt near that mark. I over estimated the number, the real numbers are here: http://digitalbattle.com/20... and even so my point still stands.
80 million isnt much if you ask me, its EA, not thq or any of those financially hurting publishers we are talking about here.
As you can see GT5 and GTA4 were the most expensive ips on that list accounting for 180 million between the two ips.
And these are current gen ips, which means the wiiu games arent going cost much more than the current crop of games coming out.
Something tells me these wiiu games arent going to look that different than most ps3 and 360 exclusive currently does. No pun intended by the way.

NYC_Gamer5123d ago

I'm sure all the major publishers already have dev kits

ChunkyLover535123d ago

I'm surprised that people don't realize that this isn't a lot of money. What I see when I see this is that they are making some games for the Wii U and might start on some Sports titles for the PS4 and the 720, but I'm actually thinking we might not see those until 2014 now.

Think about how much 80 million is for a game, I'd guess Battlefield 3 probably cost more to make and advertise.

Raider695123d ago (Edited 5123d ago )

80 million its not in games lol!Its 80 million in R&D,new engines, tools ......,its obvious that EA is going to spent a lot more than 80 million in games development. To make next gen games they need new tools, engines,R&D teams for the new hardware, thats were the 80 million are expected to be spend.

ChunkyLover535123d ago (Edited 5123d ago )

Any way you look at it, its not a lot of money and its not a lot of time.

As far as I'm concerned, confirmed no new consoles until 2014, at least.

Skate-AK5123d ago

I think I saw somewhere that they spent 100 million on marketing alone for BF3.

WeskerChildReborned5123d ago

I heard BF3 will be coming out next gen and if that's true. That would be awesome.

Titanz5123d ago

Should we all believe in the hype, now?

jc485735123d ago

Sigh...I hope DLCs are free next gen.

BuffMordecai5123d ago

They won't be, this generation proved that a lot of people will buy useless crap.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee80d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
