Mass Effect imo. Better characters, better story, better combat.

Well said, though I haven't bought Skyrim yet, I seen much of it and played the hell out of Oblivion to tell its a great game. I'm on my second play through of Mass Effect 3(been following the series since the beginning) And it is amazing!

They both might be rpgs but they play very differently, between both of these games there's no true victor, it just depends on your taste.
Skyrim- Great Exploration
Mass Effect- Amazing Story

and both have great customization when it comes to your characters look and abilities.

Skyrim easily. ME series was too linear and the gameplay sucked. The only thing it had going for it was the aliens and setting. The rest is forgettable.
