IGN - Resistance 3: When Death Helps

Insomniac's push for more usability testing during development.

BattleAxe5181d ago

What a joke. If they actually did any user research, they would have found that most people thought that the multiplayer sucked this time around.

Gamer-Z5180d ago (Edited 5180d ago )

I played the demo and i have to say i wasn't very impressed, the gameplay and controls felt very CODish.

TheFirstClassic5180d ago

The controls may feel kind of codish but the gameplay isn't. Resistance is all about creative guns, the strategy behind using each of them correctly, and big boss fights. Also having to watch your health and move around constantly in search of health and ammo, not like in other shooters where you just hide for a few seconds and you're healed. Trust me, the campaign is nothing like cod, in fact in my opinion it had the freshest campaign out of every shooter last year, and then some.

Sevir5180d ago

Cod, Rage, Dead Island! -_- it really improved on everything! Damn shame the ps3 community turned their heads away on this and Sony just roared it out to died with no support! It's the main reason why Insomniac said turned away from the game!

Gamer-Z5180d ago

Honestly it was the COD controls that turned me off from the game but if what you guys are saying is true then maybe ill give it another try.

Kaos_Vll5180d ago

so you are saying that the game runs at 60 fps? because I have no idea what you mean by codish. Every game that comes out now with tight responsive controls are codish?

Game plays nothing like cod, at all.

nolifeking5180d ago

Are people really using something as simple as ADS to say a game is like COD. The guns alone makes this game a different beast.

Kaos_Vll5180d ago

I'm thinking the same thing everytime I see such statements.

gypsygib5180d ago

I just got that Resistance dual pack and Resistance 3 all for 60 bucks and I must say that Resistance 2 is surprisingly good - still haven't played R3 yet. I have no idea why I didn't try this series out sooner...

Oh yeah I remember, because sony released it's two best shooters in the same year and I loved Killzone 2 so naturally I bought KZ3.

Then they released Resistance 3 in the same season with the two most popular FPS games on the market, the biggest RPG, and the two most popular 3rd person shooters.

TheFirstClassic5180d ago

Man there was a lot of shooters last year. Crysis 2, Killzone 3, MW3, bf3, uncharted 3, gears 3, resistance 3, halo anniversary, rage etc. A lot of 3s last year too.

I agree though on R2, a lot of people didn't like it, but it was still a great game. However, R1 will always remain as one of my favorite fps of all time.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee81d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator115d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
