Better With Kinect

2 games is a bright future? In what universe?

SamVersusSam5183d ago

Two of the biggest examples are Ghost Recon and ME3 and those were the two games he chose to spotlight. And it can indeed be a bright future if other hardcore developers latch onto the idea of using it. When Mass Effect and Ghost Recon latch onto it, you know other people are going to try it as well.

LOL @ trolls having to pretend people who tell the truth are 'spinning'.

The author of the article gave those examples and pointed to what he though was a bright future.

It's silly pretend Kinect is somehow going to stop with those 2 games.

Just this year alone EA is implementing Kinect into Fifa, Tiger, and Madden.

Ubisoft is using Kinect features in every Tom Clancy game, which means not only Ghost Recon but the upcoming Rainbow six game.

Crimson Dragon looks cool but you also have games like Steel Battalion and Fable.

Kinect is at the beginning of it's life cycle and if developers keep making strides then who knows how good games can get with the tech.

Even Sony is licensing their own version of Kinect for the PS4, so it's clear that we will being seeing Kinect type implementation deep into the next gen.

@ ED360

"Even Sony is licensing their own version of Kinect for the PS4, so it's clear that we will being seeing Kinect type implementation deep into the next gen."

All I heard about that was that Sony has patented some of their own 3D camera-based motion sensing technology. Companies patent stuff all the time and a lot of it never materialises. There's no substantial proof that Sony has licensed their own version of Kinect. Unless I'm missing something?

'eyetoy says hello evildead360'

I've owned every version of Eyetoy and Eyetoy isn't even close. Try playing Dance Central, Fitnerss Evolved, or Kinect Sports with an eyetoy..hint you can't

MS, instead of trying to shove kinect to the core crowd just give em games with the traditional controller!

Kinect will never suit in core games as main way of playing.
Its meant to be silly waving your hands around and have fun with family, girlfriend etc.
That's what the kinect is meant to be

Sure am all for new ways of playing the games but if that actually improve the gameplay in contrast with the traditional controller.
Things like wiimote/move or the wii u controller could actually improve the way core games are played.
While kinect will be just like an extra for voice controls, gestures which really doesn't improve the gameplay of core games that much.

@evil dead

your worse than a troll, your a fanboy.

kinect has bottomed out in every market but the US, sales have slowed, most companies have abandonded it

EVILDEAD3605183d ago

LMFAO...TROLLS like you ARE Fankiddies..that's why you spend every bubble in every article doing it.

In your imaginary world Kinect 'bottomed out'
..too bad the truth hurts hurts when you log off

Kinect won't really reach its full potential until the next MS console is released and offers better hardware specs

StrongMan5183d ago

Tacked on optional features for two multi platform games is a "bright future"?

GribbleGrunger5183d ago

the word 'oxymoron' springs to mind

Bathyj5183d ago

I keep thinking, just plain Moron.

Reibooi5183d ago

Every time I hear the better with Kinect slogan I can't help but roll my eyes. I have yet to see a single game that was better with it. Games like Mass Effect 3 for example use it but it's incredibly immersion breaking outside of combat and inside of combat it's quicker and more intuitive to just use your controller.

Even a game that looks awesome like Crimson Dragon(formally known as Project Draco) would be far better off being played with a controller. The bottom line when it comes to motion and voice based gaming is that just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Hicken5182d ago

Possibly the only game that actually WAS better with Kinect is Child of Eden.

But you're right: the little additions to games like Mass Effect especially don't improve the game for the majority of core gamers, and voice recognition is OBVIOUSLY something that can be and has been done prior to connect for years.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde19d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
