Rumor: US Studio To Develop Metal Gear Solid Game

After rumors sprung up about a new Metal Gear game from a GDC listing for ‘the “Next” MGS’ along with an image of Big Boss, most people assumed that MGS5 was in development at Kojima Productions Japan. Now, however, more job listings suggest the upcoming California-based Kojima Productions studio may actually be handling development of the game. - PSLS

My favorite series of all-time. And I'm not talking about this Revengeance crap. I want me some real MGS. I believe a Yay is in order.

Colwyn5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

when in rome...

i dont have much faith in this game then. ive been hearing runblings about kojima not having faith in japanese developers anymore and i feel like a us studio making mgs would want to gear the style towards mostly what the us gamers might want.

Dark115187d ago

I understand that MGS is your favorite series
but there is no need to call Revengeance a crap.

Snookies125187d ago

Well, to be fair... The game looks... Kinda bad right now, let's hope it shapes up in any case.

Akiba965187d ago

I have to say, in comparison to other games in the series, revengeance looks pretty dumb. Imo

gaffyh5187d ago

Revengeance is really a game for people who aren't MGS fans because the game is the complete opposite to the MGS games in terms of its style and gameplay. That doesn't mean it will be a bad game, it's almost definite that the gameplay will be good, but it does mean that more than likely MGS fans will not be happy with it.

CarlitoBrigante5187d ago

Are there really people thinking a US Studio will develop a MGS game??? First: The IP is owned by Konami, 2nd: No US studio can make and tell such an epic story as MGS

If Americans attempted to make a MGS game, it would turn into a CoD game

knifefight5187d ago

I love me some classic nationalism and oversimplification.

R4MBO5187d ago

Hopefully Kojima's heading this.

jc485735187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

this is not the first time Kojima or Konami has done this. Wonder if it's true, but which company? Man, just thinking about MGS 1 remake, which happens to be one of the cheesiest entry I have ever played.

doctorstrange5187d ago

That could be promising, just don't COD it up.

alexcosborn5187d ago

Can't wait! HUGE fan of the series.

The original MGS for the PSOne was far and away my favorite.

Ares84HU5187d ago

Mine too!! I think it had the best and most original story out of all of them.

alexcosborn5187d ago

Agreed, from that point on things got a bit convoluted.

The original MGS has bar-none the best story in any video game ever.

Maldread5184d ago

Yeah i agree with you both. MGS1 is the best one in the series. Psycho Mantis. Two endings. Solid Snake vs Liquid. Looking at Meril`s ass to see which guard she is. I mean the game is just so epic and fun.

MGS3 was almoast as good and easily a 10/10 game. But MGS1 is a little bit better in my opinion. Along with FF7 as the two best games i`ve ever tried.

D3stinySm4sher5187d ago

Not a big fan of this series in particular but I enjoy its silliness from a distance. Westernizing it a bit (but not TOO much) could potentially get me to give it a second earnest chance.

Majin-vegeta5187d ago

*Westernizing it a bit (but not TOO much).*

Umm yea no we don't need more Devs trying to westernize ideas into these games.

I don’t think I’ve ever quite experienced an unfinished game that was slapped together with duct tape and construction paper to be sold as a finished product, basically making you replay the same missions and include a story that clearly was missing so much of the plot, like I did with this game.

I’m actually shocked that it doesn’t get calls out for this more.

franwex76d ago

It did. But the gameplay loop is still pretty good.

That’s interesting. Not in a good way

-Foxtrot230d ago

Why couldn't we have just had a straight forward Kojima horror game...like you know, a full P.T like game, Silent Hills but made into a new IP.

cloganart230d ago

Because he wants to do Physint real bad lol

-Foxtrot230d ago

I would have honestly sacrificed Death Stranding 2 for the P.T horror game at this point so he could still to Physint

FinalFantasyFanatic229d ago (Edited 229d ago )

I thought that was what we were going to get, I'm very disappointed, I hope they don't charge out the ass for this game if it's episodic, maybe I'll wait for an OD collection unless the game is bad.

I really thought we were going to get a spiritual successor to P.T.
