Funny we do not see with the same Eye to Eye when coming to cell phones. IMHO bring on the new tech, I will upgrade when I can afford it or make a plan!

We do need new consoles, on the xbox 360 games are over 1 disc and I want a next gen so that my next console has blu-ray and is 1 disc. I would be fine with a next gen console and not having a next gen after that if it ran games in native 1080. But PC will always continue to advance, and anything thats over 2 years old gets considered old, so they'll always be the need for a next gen because of pc. Maybe if pc tech stops advancing maybe then we wont have a next gen.

Yea, same here. I can wait too, way too many games to worry about enough already. We need another console like a hole in the head right now!

I switched back to PC as my main platform back in March. After playing a bunch on games on the PC from BF3, GTAIV(again) and Metro 2033. I will never buy a multiplat game on the PS3 again. I see the littlest detail now from PS3 to PC. Like AA, I can put 16x AA on PC and when i see a PS3 game the jaggy edges drive me INSANE now.

If you dont want a new console, dont buy it. Simples.

There is you, and then there are other people, who are all individuals with different wants. You don't "NEED" anything. But if somebody wants it, and if enough somebodies want it, then the demand is too great for the console maker to ignore.

You didn't even need these current consoles, either. You could have built a good PC. But the demand for consoles was high enough that the console makers released the ones you have now.

do we need 'em? maybe, but let's be honest, developers have finally begun to master the current systems. We're getting some great games on these consoles.

Typically, when a new console launches, we get very few quality games in the first year or so... it takes a while to develop great games on new tech. We're getting such great titles on current consoles, that I'm fine with what we've got.

I don't need a new console right now. I'm pretty happy with a (soon to be) new vita and my 3DS... I'm also happy with my 360 and PS3... I'm also looking forward to wii u.

When ps4 and nextbox come, I'm sure I'll get them, but as for now, I don't think there's any rush.... Sony and MS are definitely hard at work on them, so we'll just have to wait and see..

why wait for 4K when current gen strougles to maintain 30fps at 720p? 1080p will be enough for next gen

Developers are starting to hit a wall with the current gen and with new technology like tesselisation becoming big on PC there is plenty of technology for a next gen console to take advantage of. Hell just more RAM would allow developers to do things that are not possible on current hardware. Current consoles hit their stride in 2010.

Even if you don't want to buy new hardware in the next few years you should want the hardware to release so developers can get the hang of the new hardware and build up a library for when you do want to get new hardware. No one will force you to buy the consoles at launch.

I'm not expecting Sony or MS to release or even announce a new console this year. Maybe next year... maybe.

It is kind of true ........ developers just get to grips with the hardware and make a few really startling games then the new console arrives and its back to square one for 2 to 3 years . God of war on the playstation 2 amazing at the end of the cycle , imagine if they had kept a serious effort going for a couple of more years .

That said new tech , thus far has ( learning curve ) aways yielded fantastic new stuff........

I would usually come in a article like this and say how much I am dying for the NBX to be announced, and I'm ready to buy a next-gen console asap.

Cost was never why I chose consoles, it was simplicity.
But I was so eager to a graphics-improvement that I had to spoil myself, and get into PC.

PC gamers for f**k's sake we know PC games look a lot better. STFU about it. Not everyone wants to use their PC for gaming.

Anyways back on topic. You NEED food. You NEED water. You NEED oxygen. No one NEEDS a game. If next-gen consoles come out, then let them come out. I for one can wait. Other people might want to experience something brand new. Hell the games may look the same but play different. IDK.

heres the thing people seem to forget, the consoles are running on less than 1gb of RAM(this includes video memory), don't have proper cooling, and have gpus that are well out dated to be kind. now I understand people don't want to buy a new console and new games but isn't that was backwards compatibility is for? Now it will also alvate some of the online hacks because modders will have to learn new hardware, new firmware, new soldering points to bypass certain chips like eeprom on the orginal xbox which prevented changing out the hdd for a larger one.
