Skyrim DLC in view after issues resolved

Not all platforms get equal attention – While PC users benefit from mods and this can only increase with the creation kit about to launch, the same cannot be said for console owners. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Skyrim need DLC, and seeing PC players enjoy mods doesn’t help matters.

PS3 and Xbox 360 players need Skyrim DLC ASAP.

xPhearR3dx5224d ago

I wouldn't say ASAP, there's plenty of content to keep you busy for a long time assuming you don't play 6+ hours every single day. Although, I would like to see an announcement soon. That way we at least know it's closer to releasing.

zeal0us5224d ago

need 1.4 update ASAP more than DLC, main quest& companion is still bugged not to mention, game stills lag and dead dragon won't stop popping up.

Hellsvacancy5224d ago

Meh, im 1 trophy from the platinum, 90 hours, im pretty bored of it now, i just wanna 100% it so i can trade it in

Fun game, dunno what all this fuss was about glitches, frame rate etc, it ran ok for me (PS3) had some minor glitches but nothin game breakin, didnt stop me playin it

Ill pass on the dlc for now, maybe in a year when they do the whole GOTY edition i might think about it

RioKing5223d ago

You sound like an ass, bro.

Rowland5224d ago

so Do PC players - good though the best mods can be, they are often a nightmare to install & cause so many conflicts you spend more time trying to resolve issues than playing the game.

Lets have the official DLC soon !

Fishy Fingers5224d ago

Well while I haven't had any problems with Skyrim mods, having tried a lot. They generally haven't added much content, just visual upgrades and the like. So I'd settle for some official DLC.

Huarle5224d ago

Well, without the Creation Kit it's rather hard to add stuff to the game. But that will change in the coming weeks and months

brish5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

@Rowland

That's exactly why I don't miss mods on the PC when I play on the console.

Fishy Fingers5224d ago

Because you struggle to read the install guides? Understandable,it can take upwards of 60 seconds.

brish5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

@Fishy Fingers

The type of argument you made is called a straw man.

'A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

I don't struggle to read install guides.

Fishy Fingers5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

And your argument was that you'd rather miss the opportunity of extra content, continued improvement, updates the developers themselves can't keep up with for a (more expensive) vanilla version because, what, the instability of the odd mod?

Which is largely only unstable through incorrect installation. Or simply put, not following install guides.

Copy/pasting that rather pointless wiki quote is about as challenging as installing a mod. But I can see why you'd prefer waiting on broken dev updates and content available only at a price.... Or realistically, you just own a console and don't have the option of modding?

humbleopinion5224d ago (Edited 5224d ago )

@Fishy Fingers,

Reading comprehension issues much? How come you stick to the "struggle to install" argument and ignore the "cause so many conflicts" statement?

Most Skyrim mods create conflicts, bugs and crashes, so it's not worth the trouble in case of most of them. This is why I also deleted most of the mods I downloaded on the PC version (except for SkyUI).

The people playing on console don't miss much in that department. Maybe after the creation kit is released...

Heard of the new Steam Works my friend? Bethesda and Valve have been working together to integrate a built in, official mod store and installer.

Come next patch, installing mods will be as easy as downloading an App in iTunes!

jrbeerman115224d ago

Rowland did you just make that entire argument up? It couldn't be easier to install mods with Skyrim, there's even a mod manager that does everything for you.

The manager even downloads the mods for you, so two clicks and the thing is installed. definitely not the "nightmare" you speak of.

I currently have 20 mods installed and have yet to get 1 conflict, the modders are really top notch and there isn't even a creation kit out yet.

Rowland5223d ago (Edited 5223d ago )

@jrbeerman11

so by your 'logic' the fact that I had no glitches/bugs playing vanilla Skyrim from day one means that all the problems experienced by the majority of other players can't be true ?

and there is no 'argument' - it's a well known fact that for most people, mods can be troublesome & cause conflicts despite mod managers & such.

Just take a look at the Bethesda, Steam & Elder SCrolls Nexus forums !

jrbeerman115221d ago (Edited 5221d ago )

i was only using myself as example. But for arguments sake lets throw that out.

You said "often a nightmare to install", maybe for you, but anyone who goes to "the nexus" knows this is not true. I even told you there's a downloader/installer that does everything for you, its as easy as posting on this site. Even without that program, every mod has easy instructions for manual install.

You also said, "& cause so many conflicts you spend more time trying to resolve issues than playing the game". My answer is that modders know what they doing. (if they don't people rate the mods and endorse working ones) They tell you what they are modding and anything it could come in conflict with, which isn't much. And again the mod manager takes care of this, if something causes conflict....turn it off (hitting one button). Oblivion Mods had better bug fixes than Bethesdas patches did. There are already mods that have proven to improve the performance of Skyrim (the forums are actually filled with people comparing FPS improvement on Skyboost)

and for your argument on forums and issues, only people who have problems post, look at the download amounts on those mods and then count the problems and come back to me with a percentage....it will be under 10% and where I come from that doesn't mean "most". So I am sorry but I disagree with the "well known" fact that its hard for everyone, especially Bethesda games.

All i have to say is the dlc better be of the 30 dollar/ hundreds of more hours oblivion: shivering isles type and size, and not of the small 10 dollar fallout 3/ nv 2 hour types.

jrbeerman115224d ago

I agree, I like expansions much better than DLC. (yes theres a difference)

josephayal5223d ago

Bethseda no love fot the WII-U? (most powerful console)

jrbeerman115221d ago

most powerful? its not out yet, and when it does it will be short lived. There are already rumors of next xbox specs. PS4 rumors are sure to be next.

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
