Skyrim Patch 1.3 Arrives on PS3

PSLS: The PS3 version of Skyrim has received patch version 1.3 today (92mb). The patch was released last week for PC and earlier today for Xbox 360. The main purpose of the patch is to fix some problems that were caused by the previous 1.2 patch, such as broken magic resistance and the infamous backwards flying dragon. But does it work?

OMG this made things so much worse. My Skyrim is barely playable now. I have a bad feeling this is going to break my PS3.

T9005265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

Well just dont take the patch if its so bad.

@below

Cant you just go back a patch on console? sorry i dont own one.

Sev5265d ago

Too late. And patches are supposed to fix things!

lorianguy5265d ago

You can go either fully patched or patchless. Once a patch has been installed you cannot go back to a previous one - its all or nothing.

It can be a pain sometimes...

There must be a way to remove the patch. I don't know about the ps3 version specifically but for the 360 just clear your system cache. I'd imagine deleting game install files would do it. Only thing that might be an issue is loading saves from a higher software version.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

Removing game install files removes the patch. But then you will be left with the LAG of the patchless skyrim.

Still i am having no problem with this patch and it fixed much needed issues.

I havn't had any issues on PS3 since launch so I won't download this one. Just in case. Though I was planning on skipping the patch anyway. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.......and it ain't broke for me.

And just so everyone knows, if you go back to an older version (assuming this patch broke the game, which I don't neccesarily believe some random person onliine saying this, in fact I'm assuming you're lying like I do with everyone else online), you will no longer be able to use your save. Saves will work on newer patch versions obviously, but if say your save is from 1.2, if you removed that patch, the game tells you you can't use saves on older versions of the game. I learned this when I upgraded my launch 60Gb on Black Friday.

I had the 1.02 patch and didn't experience any problems (turned off the auto-saves). I have been experiencing some noise crackling and more stuttered framerate in the cities now that I've installed the 1.03 patch. Kind of a bummer!

For me, the lag is no worse, but no better either. It's really hard to play after a while, and all the lag really pulls you out of the experience.

BIGBOSS085264d ago

skyrim is strange. patch seems to have stopped the freezing for me. had a good 3 hour session today and hardly any glitches so... hoping i can finally play the damn game now.

cervantes2405265d ago

Hopefully, all of these problems will be ironed out soon.

RedDragan5265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

Not likely, they couldn't with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You could always wait a couple of months and buy it on Steam for £5 on the PC. That would minimise cost and even laptops with integrated graphics can play this game.

Also, why the hell would someone disagree with your comment? That is just spiteful, if they do fix it you are winner but if not just try my suggestion. It isn't the most ideal solution but a solution none the less.

brodychet5265d ago

Bethesda didn't develop New Vegas, and Fallout 3 worked fine for the majority of players. Except for Point Lookout, the Dlc. It
ll just take awhile for them to figure everything out.

Clipper135265d ago

@brodychet

Bethesda published New Vegas man, Obsidian used the exact same engine that F3 and Oblivion did...

Sev5265d ago

Skyrim ate my PS3. Kinda like those times my dog ate my homework. My teacher made me bring in my dog once because she didn't believe my dog had such an appetite for important documents.

PastyGangster5265d ago

My game was starting to lag a lot more, Until 1.3 came out. It still lags but not as much. Not yet anyway.

MysticStrummer5265d ago

I never know whether to believe people on here or not. I haven't downloaded the patch yet. I guess I'll wait and Google it later to see if there are problems with it.

RedDragan5265d ago (Edited 5265d ago )

There will always be idiots, just look at the disagree's for people saying they hope it gets fixed... What is that all about?

LettingGo5265d ago

You can believe Sev. Lol. He owns playstationlifestyle.net. He's incredibly reliable and unbiased. ;)

Parapraxis5265d ago

He's also incredibly sarcastic sometimes.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981157d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
