
The gaming community generally feels that corner-cutting measures somehow deter from the overall experience. Bypassing areas, adding extra lives, and turning on God Mode? Only weak games (and weak gamers) utilize features like that.
Apparently, we should only play what's presented without even once frustration sets in.
But isn't it more fun when you can cheat in games?

I do miss the old days of grabbing a sheet of cheat codes and screwing around with a game for a while...
But, for me at least, that was usually the death of a game. Once you've cheated to see everything or whatever, the fun of actually playing it quickly disappears.
I agree with this sentiment. It's impossible for game designers to know what skill levels everyone is at, so why not make the games more flexible like this?
It's not cheating if you win. Just ask any politician.
I usually used the codes once I beat a game once. If it's a single player game, then sure. Go for it! The debs put it into the game for you to use in some way! It's different if it's a multiplayer or MMO game where your actions will have a negative effect on the people you are playing with that won't receive the same benefit as you have. But if it's like using the Dead Space codes that EA put into the game to get that trophy for completing hard mode, then it should be okay (if they didn't want you to use them, they shouldn't have put them into the game)!
I never owned a game genie or anything like it. I always felt it seemed like steroids for ball players and I was good enough to not have to use it. I personally hate cheats, and as far as I remember the only ones I ever used were for contra(Konami code, BITCHES!!) and Mortal Kombat(I's need mys blood).
