God of War 4
Uncharted 4
Gran Turismo 6
Killzone 4

etc :)

Cyb3r5277d ago

Well if they are developing these games I cannot see any reason to complain

blumatt5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

They'll definitely continue those franchises, but since we're talking about Sony, you're also guaranteed to have tons of new IPs too. It won't be the same three or four franchises over and over and over again. Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, LBP, etc. all prove that Sony is willing to take chances with new, different, and compelling franchises. They're willing to give money out to smaller developers to take a chance and possibly have a winner on their hands. LBP is the best example of that.

The PS4 will most likely come out at $399 and $499 price points this time, and be FULLY backward compatible with ALL PS3 games, both physical and digital. You'll be able to re-download all your games bought through PSN too. The hardware will likely be Cell-based again but with a better GPU and alot more RAM (probably 4-8GB). 8GB RAM would be incredible and really is what it needs to have since it'll have to last 5-6 more years until the PS5.

@disagree
Explain yourself. lol Stealth disagrees are not welcome. haha

Yodagamer5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

@blumatt the disagrees are because if i remember right sony said they weren't going to use the cell processor and instead use something developer friendly for the ps4

BattleAxe5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

It would be stupid to stop software development now that the PS3 is almost at 60 million units world wide. I bet we'll see Heavenly Sword 2 and Syphon Filter 5 on the PS3. We'll probably also see another crappy game from Zipper unfortunately. Also Guerrilla Games is working on a new IP apparently. I'm also willing to bet we'll se another Infamous game and Starhawk will probably see a sequel within the next 2 years on PS3.

@ Yodagamer,

I hope you're wrong, because if that is the case, then you will not be able to carry your PSN games over to the PS4. Besides, developers know how to program games with the Cell Processor now.....its been 5 years.

blumatt5277d ago

Well I've got to say that if they haven't figured out the Cell after like 6 years (or more) then they obviously need to figure out a new career. Figuring out how to develop on new consoles is part of being a game developer.

@BattleAxe
Thank you. At least you understand. IF they don't go with a Cell-based design again, then they're gonna have trouble making all of our bought content from the PS3 work on the PS4. I'm pretty sure that Sony will still make it developer friendly by giving it a powerful GPU and tons of RAM (4-8GB). That way, lazier devs. will still be able to develop on the PS4 without having to utilize the Cell chip as much. Plus, by then, Sony will have developed an easy-to-use dev. kit using the Cell processor.

gow 4 and uncharted 4 should be amazing but i think i'll hold off buying the ps4 until the ps4 slim edition comes out

steve30x5277d ago

Fair play to you. You can name off some games in development. How do you know any of those wont be on PS4 though?

gamingdroid5277d ago

I guess the question really is, what has Sony announced will release next year and the year after?

The latter might be too soon, but Sony has a history of releasing information wayyyy in advance.

PhantomTommy5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

Why do people like Killzone? Killzone 3 sucked major balls, Killzone 2 was the only good one; Uncharted 4, God Of War 4 and a new Team Ico game, thats what I'm hoping for.

stvn_k265276d ago

But Fumito Ueda has left the team! well, that's what I know so far. So I don't know if bringing a new game to the table without him would be a good idea...

I hope they have Sucker Punch working on a new IP to launch their Ps4 with, gotta say this gen with inFAMOUS they have become one of my favorite devs.

LOOK_AT_THIS_I5277d ago

very underrated game and studio in my opinion. when infamous launched that was how I envisioned an open world game to be. the character controls were great, there were a few bugs but for the most part it was damn near perfect. I wish that GTA/Red Dead could utilize a character control like that. I hate getting stuck in stairwells, fences, cars, etc...and getting blasted on because my damn character wont move. That was a critical error for me on GTA4 and couldnt look past it.

They made a "superhero" game before batman aa dropped and done an awesome job on it. I am waiting til christmas for infamous 2, got such a huge backlog of games to play right now and I figured it would be a great christmas present for someone to give me :)

smashcrashbash5277d ago

I agree. the guys who make Spiderman games should take notes from Infamous in design and gameplay. Cole's agility and freedom reminded me of Spiderman more then the games about him do.

lumley6665277d ago

this will never happen, not for years anyway, look how much the ps2 has been supported since the ps3 was released

Focus5277d ago

What SONY made ps2 exclusive did you play after gow 2?

lumley6665277d ago

i never said there will be ps3 exclusives wen ps4 launches, i mearly said sony wont stop supporting the ps3 wen ps4 releases

Megaman_nerd5277d ago

Jack and Daxter Lost Frontier, MotorStorm Artic Edge, Persona 3, Persona 4 and the always famous yearly sport series like FIFA and Major League Baseball 2K12.

Foxgod5277d ago (Edited 5277d ago )

they should have been working on ps4 titles for a while now, that however doesnt mean they stopped on ps3 titles.
They cant wait until the ps4 is out, before starting with ps4 software products, that would lead to a software draught in the first 1.5~ 2 years of the ps4 its existence, wich could be lethal considering the high competition.

A lot of studio's are capable of developing more then one product at a time.

ravinash5277d ago

I'm sure some game companies through the first year or so could make a PS3 and PS4 version of a game to capture both markets just lust the small cost of scaling down the PS3 version.

Hopefully the PS4 will be backward compatible with PS3 games.

karam5277d ago

Im betting my money on Naughty Dog, because these reports came just after Uncharted3 became Gold.

Moreover, who was better than them in utilizing the PS3 CELL capabilities to the MAX
Although I hope Santa Monica Studios contribute to the development process

Micro_Sony5277d ago

I love UC and I can not wait to play 4 but I do not want to play it on my PS3.

Sure the PS3 still has alot of potential and no other developer can take advantage of the cell like ND can but RAM on consoles is becoming a big issue.

I would really love an open world UC with current or better graphics with some RPG element.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8519d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele18d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk18d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay18d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10119d ago (Edited 19d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit18d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg18d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10118d ago (Edited 18d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14918d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle31d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit31d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog32d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog32d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad32d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_32d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage32d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda31d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
