Three Problems With Skyrim

Skyrim is extremely engrossing and accomplishes something that many modern games fail to these days – it actually lets you craft your own story.

But some aspects of the game are extremely disappointing.

I love me some Skyrim. Likely my own personal Game of the Year. Gotta agree with riding the horse though. It's a bit rough sometimes.

xhedleyx5258d ago

I'd definitely call it one of my games of the year, it's flawless. I don't know what this guy is talking about. Rough day at the office or something buddy?

padz15257d ago

Flawless? I'm stuck in a glitch where every 2 steps that I move,Vilkas forces me to turn around just to say to me ''We're gonna make them pay''

I cant go 5 goddamn seconds without that happened.

A great game. But certainly not flawless.

I just wish they put more work into, riding horses is supposed to fun!

Seriously I have to fight these things everywhere! I swear I've killed me 20 already with my new character and they NEVER F*****G LAND!!!! I know there's a shout for it but that doesn't justify them having less balls than Rathalos who's known for flying! Also, what are you supposed to do before you get the shout? Fire off an arrow and hope?!

dinkeldinkse5257d ago

But the weaker ones don't bother me at all. One thing that I hate about them is they seem to always want to fight me when I am trying to finish a quest.

I swear I was attacked by one near the end of every single civil war quest and I was attacked by two in the last civil war quest. It's not fun getting ambushed by an elder dragon for the fifth time in about an hour.

Btw where do you get the shout to make them land? That would definitely make them less annoying to fight.

Lord_Sloth5257d ago

I don't know. I haven't really progressed in the story. That's just something some1 on GFaqs pointed out to me.

And yeah, they never seem to land unless you have an objective in mind. XXXO

They should of contacted Rockstar and gotten the lowdown on how to make proper horse-riding. They should definitely do it next time or even patch it in!

Leonesaurus5257d ago

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I actually really enjoy the horse riding in Skyrim, and I've played Red Dead Redemption and many other horse centric games.

It sprints, it jumps and the horse even decides to fight for you sometimes. I don't see the issue there. But it could always use improvements, why not? But its not a major issue.

As for character animations and what not, I have to agree with the article on that. However, in its defense, it is MUCH better than Oblivion and Fallout's characters.

The game's back then would microscope zoom into the character's face and freeze time. In Skyrim, time still flows realistically and characters look and move their lips much more realistic looking now. Downside, they still are pretty stiff and lack dynamic movement like in Mass Effect or something.

With one exception, this jester guy I met in my travels was clapping and hopping all over the place when I was speaking to him. Him and a few handful of others I've met actually have some fluid movements during animation. Small few, but they're there. Hopefully they work on animations more in the next game though.

The load screen complaint is just stupid. I play on PC and the game loads MAD fast. Not sure about the console version that I was so close to buying (PS3) but last minute changed my mind because I KNEW the PC version would be the best version for performance and graphics. Not an issue for us users.

I think peoples opionion on the horses would be MUCH different if you could fight from horseback. I have no problem with random encounters but when you have to contstantly stop to get off the horse to fight those encounters it gets old, and makes the horse more hassle then is worth. I pretty much walk everyplace as I find it actually faster.

Now if I wanted to go someplace and NOT stop to kill stuff, and not go over mountains then I may buy a horse. But at the moment, since the last horse got killed after I fast travelled to a location, I dont even own one.

Leonesaurus5257d ago

Yeah, you got a good point about the lack of horse mounted combat. I felt being able to shoot a bow or something from your horse would have solved those issues.

But for the horses dying part, I just make myself save before every threatening encounter I come across on my horse, get off and fight and then get back on and ride around the land again. I don't mind getting on and off the horse at all since I do it in every single game. I think I even got off the horse to fight in red dead redemption too? Its been awhile.

I hear the one horse you get for the Dark Brotherhood quest has a lot of health and can sprint for a very long time. Sounds really cool.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981134d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
