EA Bans Battlefield 3 Accounts Following Bug Exploit

Electronic Arts banned several accounts this weekend for exploiting an experience loophole in Battlefield 3.

"This week we've banned hundreds of offending accounts and have stats-wiped accounts for exploiting (such as boosting)," EA wrote on Twitter. "We are working on banning as many people as we can as quickly as we can. We have a zero tolerance policy for cheating."

IGN put up the exploit in the first place

Montrealien5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

So it's their fault? Is that what you are trying to get at?

pangitkqb5295d ago

I really do agree with banning cheaters. People paid good money to enjoy their time, and others shouldn't be able to ruin that time for them because of an exploit or cheat.

BattleTorn5295d ago (Edited 5295d ago )

Well kinda!

Exploiting might not be as rampant if the most reputable gaming site didn't show everyone how to do it.

That being said, EA should ban anyone hacking, but as for XP-exploiters (whom have been shown by IGN)... just FIX it, no need to ban people are exploiting flaws that the devs have yet to fix.

FAGOL5295d ago

They made a video showing how to do it. Pretty stupid move by IGN.

You can argue that they showed DICE the problem but making a tutorial video then posting it on the internet will just entice idiots to do it.

papashango5294d ago

Sometimes it takes the kind of exposure ign gave it for people to start giving a crap. It's actually one of the good things ign has done lately.

If you cheat you should be banned! I am glad they are taking it seriously.

finbars755294d ago

Wish they would ban the idiots that are ranked number one in the world on the ps3.Sorry to burst there bubble but my friends and have played against them numerous times and there's no way in the blue blazin he'll those guys score 6000 ppm.My god those guys only score a top 3000 points per person while my friends and I scored almost 8000pts each.Tell me how they even come close to crap like that. That's right DAR and friends cheating assholes ban that crap DICE there not legit.

sovietsoldier5295d ago

hah i caught some people doing this and reported them so looks like now i don't have to play with them waste of space people. boosters are lame but hacker are the worst .

kma2k5295d ago

This is one of many reasons why i dont play online mulitplayer. Leave me be in skyrim for months on end thank you!

KwietStorm_BLM5295d ago

Because you can't cheat? Good. Stay in Tamriel

kma2k5295d ago

Well yea cheaters, campers, sh*t talkers, little kids. I just prefer to be alone lol

svoulis5295d ago

I thought i was reading that BF3 doesn't have cheaters/hackers/boosters. Hm...This seems like a really easy exploit the developers dropped the ball on.

BattleTorn5295d ago

it's also only possible in the Hardcore-modes.

So the Normal-servers haven't been affected (by the amount of players exploiting and not playing that is)

with the exception, of course, of their exploited-rank

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee77d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator111d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
