EA To Be Facing Trial In Germany?

In plain language this means: Who wants to play "Battlefield 3" on a PC, install a monitoring program. The license agreement for this program is that EA and unspecified partners, information about the use of computers and equipment to collect the customer. EA may also use this data along with unspecified "personal" data for marketing campaigns. Who does not want the EA advises: "Install or use the application please do not."

EA remove this sh** from our pc!

Megaton5326d ago

Steam's is optional, not as invasive, and Valve doesn't explicitly claim "we're gonna totally sell your info to 3rd parties".

Iroquois_Pliskin5326d ago

Where is anon when you need em?

DarkBlood5327d ago

eh well good luck with that

Dan505326d ago

This is the SECOND time EA used malware with their PC games. First time was with Battlefield 2000 something.

kma2k5326d ago

This cannot be legal can it?

Shackdaddy8365326d ago

You sign the agreement when you install Origin so it's perfectly legal - it's just unethical.

This is why I still haven't dwnlded Origin. I already have enough issues from downloading so much porn every night :P

radphil5326d ago (Edited 5326d ago )

I just hope this situation would make it optional, like it should be in the first place imo.

e-p-ayeaH5326d ago

download porn? who does that

saladthieves5326d ago

Same reason as well as to why I haven't installed Origin on my computer. No, not porn, honestly...ah, what's the point no one will believe me anyway.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee91d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

lodossrage125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

thorstein125d ago

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator125d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1125d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
