It doesn't need it, per se, but, bearing in mind it's being done by the partner studio so the development of the SP cannot be affected whether it's there or not, I'm absolutely fine with it being there.

Besides, it sounds a fair bit more interesting than most supposedly tacked on MP modes.

Yes ever since i played the awesome mass effect 1 i thought it would be a nice addition why do people fear multi that much if it wasnt around today i wouldnt play games anymore i must have at least killed over 200,000 people online 38,000 just in cod 3, i just find single player a grind these days if a game doesnt have multi i usually wont buy it untill its $5 i guess ME has been strong enough without it but i welcome it.

making the Sp is separate from the one making MP. I beleive the Montreal Bioware is handling the online coop while the core team in Edmonton is doing the story as always.

On topic though, I think ME3 will benefit from it simply because it is co-op. The question that was handed to us though, does it really need multiplayer? No, no it doesn't, but as others have said, it is a nice touch.

This is the third entry in the series, so I don't think it needs it right now. Had the game offered this option to start with then the series would have probably sold better though.

The reason I say that is because I know a lot of people that will only buy games that a campaign/multiplayer option. So I think in the future, pretty much every game will offer some sort of multiplayer aspect. I love the series either way though.

I'm gonna buck the trend and say a definite yes. Its the last game in the franchise and outside of DLC multiplayer will add longevity if done well.

Apparently, the author of the article did not follow up on this story before writing this article, or he just wrote the article to get people irritated.

Either way, if he had followed up on the fact that ME3 is getting multiplayer, he would have known that Bioware has confirmed that the "Multiplayer" is co-op featuring missions that expand on the games story.

No, but as long as it doesn't affect my ability to get to the absolute highest level and such in the singleplayer or with-hold story elements or generally affect the quality of the game, I don't honestly care.

If you want multiplayer in your RPG go play an MMO. Every other type of RPG should be left alone. Especially if its focus is on a strong story and immersion into the universe.
