What kind of a title is that? That's like saying oranges are orange.

WhiteLightning5345d ago

I honestly have no idea how it's been getting good reviews, all my friends (who are the football obssesed types) admit it's good but it dosen't feel that much differen't from last years and the year before that.

It's like the COD yearly thing but for sports fanatics who don't really play on games but as soon as you mention the sports game they like (Fifa, PES, Madden)....it's "OMG, this is the best game ever)

Nate-Dog5345d ago

I think that's what the majority of the FIFA players probably want to be honest, something much the same with minor upgrades. (Not saying that's what all players want, but probably the majority do, the players that are probably closer to casuals than the rest.) Most of the reviews for PES I've seen have been actually quite low or average but I wonder what regular players from last year's game think about it too. FIFA always seems to get stellar reviews around the board, I'm not really sure why when it doesn't tend to change much but I don't know, I guess most reviewers tend to go with the idea of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Well a lot of FIFA gamers I know only spend about 50 quid a year on video games, and guess what they spend that fifty on?

As long as it has an updated player roster & slightly better graphics, they don't really care too much about anything else!

I'm very disappointed with FIFA 12. I'm probably going to trade it back in.

I can't agree here . I'm as anti fifa as it gets , i never could be interested in the franchise despite multiple tentatives ... but i gotta admit that this year , the game is indeed different (even if i still dont like it ) .

The new defense alone make it a completely different beast . Defending in say 11 was beyond ridiculous . All you had to to was pressuring constantly with the button and a decent enough player , and you would catch the ball . Not really any sense of tactic or timing there , with only the occasional foul when you mash it to a way too frenetic level .

This time around the commands , juxtaposed with the new physics engine changed that , and its a major evolution .

I still dont like the game for various reasons , but it's probably the biggest serie of changes ever seen in fifa yet . The first next gen fifa .
Everyone got inertia and can't get away with being a kung fu master like before ... you get massively punished and left in the wind for defensive blunders . For the first time imo in ages , you actually gets a goo feeling when you manage to slip by a defense , or when you stop and attack . For the first time in ages it's your doing , not some silly mashing of pressure buttons or silly runs

As for pes and its reviews , no surprise there , most "journalists" are a lazy lot , and have better fun claiming it's "not good enough" without so much as a truly indepth look at the game . They just follow trends .

Most pes players knows this year has seen rather drastic and tremendous changes for the better .

Well I guess when reviewing it, you review it for what it is, not what it was proceeded by.

I mean, if I had not played Fifa 11, I would want to know all about Fifa 12 itself, not how it stacks up in comparison to 11, you know?

gunnerforlife5344d ago

well i loved fiffa 10!!! and then got 11 and i hated it for some reason it just didnt seem right to me, but then i tried out the demo round my mates house and i really loved it and how it played very fluid game! defo better then the previous entry!

Here i was thinking it gets worse every year

yezz5344d ago

i hated the new defending so much that after buying every fifa from world cup 2006 to 11, i wont be getting fifa 12 :S, the defending is a step forward but it is too manual... when you watch your friends play, it doesnt even look like football :( other than that it is much better than fifa 11

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
