1UP: The Gunstringer Review

1UP writes: Before I put pen to paper on this review, I contemplated forming my thoughts under the three subheadings, "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." Lucky for us, a distaste for cliche quickly steered me off that path. The Gunstringer handles a bevy of timeless themes with too much love to sully this review with a trite gimmick. It's a game that takes a handful of seemingly unrelated genres and forms a union between them that exudes impossible amounts of charm. It's also a game that provides irrefutable validation for adopters of Kinect.

I did not see this coming.

Don't see how an on-rails third person shooter "provides irrefutable validation for adopters of Kinect."

JokesOnYou5368d ago

Maybe because you haven't played it and don't own kinect.

KingSlayer5368d ago

Owning Kinect and not playing it like yourself is better huh? Never claimed to own Kinect. Dismiss my comment if you must, but "You are the controller" essentially means "Games play themselves, just wave". LULZ.

JokesOnYou5368d ago (Edited 5368d ago )

Well I haven't played it and I don't plan on playing it because I know it's not the type of game I would really get into and play alot so therefore I can't justify buying THIS game, however looking over the reviews in general it seems to play as advertised and turned out to be a fun game so unlike you I'm not here to bash a game I haven't played, especially when I know I'm not particularly interested in the game type, no different than me going to a jrpg review and saying: "screw this positive review, its just another jrpg so I know it sucks"= Why would I do that, when I know I hate jrpg's?

I read kinect reviews not neccessarily because I want to know if the game is good or not but because I'm interested in seeing how the tech is being utilized, progress with casual titles will hopefully lead to the tech being successfully intergrated in hybrid games in the future.....but yeah, who cares about that right, you'd rather troll games you care nothing about, its all you got.

@kingslayer

I guess you haven't play panza dragoon orta?

IM_A_NINJA5368d ago

It's much more then a on rails shooter, there are platforming levels, loads of unlocks and free DLC all for a budget $40.

I think N4G regulars are just surprised to see a solid influx of quality, core games. No need to be shocked though, we were promised these types of games all along.

soljah5368d ago

lets see a on rails kinect shooter. gets a a-
if this game was a move game it would be a c.
there is like 3 honest video games sites left out there. the rest all have a agenda or bias or are being money hatted by game cos.

maniacmayhem5368d ago

It's all a conspiracy right? Lord forbid a Kinect game get a good review.

JokesOnYou5368d ago (Edited 5368d ago )

Hey this ain't my cup of tea, I want more new creative IP's like Gears, Alan Wake, and Too Human had alot of potential the execution was just flawed but at micro is supporting kinect, sure there are alot of bad kinect games but it seems that when dev's take their time and use the tech they can bring some enjoyable experiences for kinect fans, personally like I said this isn't really something I would sit down a play myself, no different than a game like LBP for me= good game, just don't see myself playing it often enough to justify a purchase but I still can appreciate the effort the dev's put in. Either way kinect is showing some good things and I'm definitely waiting to see what kinect adds to games like ME3 and Ghost Recon.

soljah, you're full of it, how come we never see those claims when games like LBP and UC2 recieve praise an awards from the same sites that get slammed when a certain group don't like the score? I mean get out the pitch forks 'cause we all know that its impossible for a kinect game to be any good.

testerg355368d ago (Edited 5368d ago )

soljah, may I ask what those 3 sites are.

Oh.. so when KZ3 and R3 gets high marks does that mean Sony paid them?

Solidus187-SCMilk5368d ago

dont be so butthurt, its just kinect.

newleaf5368d ago

Pssst, agent Mulder, I've been looking for you, your special edition tin foil hat gave you away though, but genius idea hiding here at n4g, conspiracy central. Anyway, we need you back. They took Scully.
Oh and by they, I mean Microsoft. You were right.

I actually prefer KS season one, and Kinect Adventure over most on the list. But its good that someone else was bold enough to say these were fun and interesting games to play.

This product sucks and it's dead. Let it stay that way.
