"Theory: The hardest part of any turn-based strategy game is in its first half. The latter half is decidedly a one-sided fight in your favor.
I feel that this applies to many, many games within this genre. Take the Civilization series, for example. The instant that you build up enough military power to effectively subjugate another player, the rest of the game has you three steps ahead of everyone else, due to your increased resources. The game becomes way too easy by that point."
