EA: Xbox 360, PS3 "still very capable"

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will be around for "quite some time", mega publisher EA has said.

Both consoles remain "technologically advanced" despite having been on the market for half a decade, EA's European boss Jens Uwe Intat told Eurogamer.

"All three first party manufacturers do have interesting platforms out there," he replied when Eurogamer asked for his assessment of the current generation of hardware.

"360 certainly will be around for quite some time. As will the PS3. The PS3 with the price drop should hopefully get some acceleration for the Christmas business.

"The Wii U is certainly a platform we like and will support going forward."

I though EA just said they were very limited about current consoles?

Kee5379d ago

It's called covering your tracks. It's good for PR.

gamingdroid5379d ago

Probably different departments too. You know the business guys versus the engineers....

At this point, it is wringing water out of stones. Get a new generation out already. We are overdue and bring those prices down.

We need a 4th competitor to enter the market to keep everybody in check.

nickjkl5378d ago

i wouldnt say its wringing water out of stones if only 3 developers are really pushing the consoles

which would be naughty dog and dice

sucker punch said even they didnt max the console with infamous 2 same with santa monica with god of war 3

that is unless you think all these games coming out right now are all int the same league in terms of technical capability

matey5379d ago

EA said Kinect and Move are alright nothing special but WiiU Tablet is way more advanced plus EA said the WiiU is a transitional platform but adds alot more social abilities ect there covering their tracks because they have tons invested in 360/ps3.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee77d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
